Hi ladies.

I am v new here so apologies if this messages is posted incorrectly! I made this account as I’m desperate for some support.

I am currently 5 weeks 6 days pregnant and have been experiencing some brown/dark red spotting for the past 3 days, albeit light and with no period type cramps. I have been to the bathroom today which would be the start of the 4th day and it’s pretty much subsided. I did suffer a miscarriage at the end of March which started similar but had progressed in to heavy bleeding/severe cramps after 24 hours of starting.

I have called the Early Pregnancy Unit and they have said it sounds like implantation bleeding and have booked me in for a scan on 14th June, when I will be 8 weeks exactly. I asked for bloods but they have said they’re not routinely done at this stage!

I’m going out of my mind because of my history! Also my original pregnancy symptoms (slight nausea with the nose of a bloodhound!) seem to have subsided dramatically! They only thing I have left is a terrible bloat - at the end of the day I look 5 months gone already!! I can’t help but tell myself that’s not a good sign :(

Has anyone having any similar experiences? Or knows of any success stories? I would love some reassurance right now as I’m not sure how I’m going to breath for the next 2 weeks!

It's not unusual to have very light "period" style bleeding sometimes throughout the pregnancy....I certainly did with DS1 (who is now an adult!). I was "expecting it" with DS2 but had nothing at all...every pregnancy is different!

Firstly, I'm sorry you're experiencing this. Secondly, you will not do yourself any good tying yourself in knots about this, regardless of what the outcome might be.

As you know, not all pregnancies end in a bouncing baby. Whatever the outcome you will be OK. It will be sad but you will be ok in the end. I say this as someone who's had a couple of miscarriages.

If the EPU were concerned they'd have brought you in sooner. Implantation bleeding is normal and I've read plenty of women on these boards who've experienced much heavier bleeding for much longer.

Keep breathing deeply, look after yourself and try to find distractions.

Meant to say Ive read plenty of women on these boards who've experienced much heavier bleeding for much longer and went on to have healthy babies

Thank you so much @weightymatters73 that is reassuring! I know I have to remember each pregnancy is different and this one isn’t quite like my previous miscarriage so I’m still hoping as of right now!

@Whataretheodds yes thank you, I have since read quite a few threads of ladies describing quite heavier bleeding. Mine has since just about stopped!

Also I had a call from the duty doctor at my GP who agreed to see me quickly considering my history! I’ve just been but basically it was a physical exam (which was all fine) and a referral for to EPU for bloods so no further forward really.

Still trying to relax and stay positive!

With my daughter i was the same. I bled probably like a light period constantly from week 6 - 8 and then again from weeks 10-11.

Shes now nearly 11 years old :)

31andTrying · 30/05/2023 22:56

@Notjustamother89 thank you! Did you have any cramping with your light bleeding?

mine has been mainly brown/dark red spotting which I thought had stopped today but I have just been to the loo and found it started again - I’d say it even looks a little redder and I have a few light niggling period like cramps (although it could be partly due to a bowl movement sorry tmi!!)

Going to try and relax until next week but I’m not feeling very hopeful at all unfortunately :(

Hi @31andTrying, really hope you’re okay. I am having similar - brown bleeding with some pink and red, only when I wipe, and a complete loss of earlier symptoms like sore boobs. It’s my first pregnancy and I feel broken. EPU have advised to monitor and if the bleeding doesn’t get worse call again over the weekend.
How are you doing? Sending love ❤️

Bexxy28 · 26/08/2023 16:51

Update?? Hope it worked out okay ❤️

31andTrying · 27/08/2023 11:11

Hi all, sorry my account has been playing up so much!

Unfortunately I did suffer a MC above however, I got caught on my next cycle and I’m now currently 8 weeks + 2☺️ I have been taking progesterone since week 5 when I found out and have been scanned twice - all good up to now 🤞🏽.

How is everyone else getting on? I hope everyone is well x

@31andTrying
I’m so sorry to hear about your mc but huge congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope everything goes well for you from here!!!

unfortunately I also had a mc but your post gives me hope for the future 😊 were you prescribed the progesterone based on your previous losses?

xxx

Oh I’m so sorry to hear @Kittens1237 sending you hugs. That was my third mc within a year so I understand how it feels but please don’t give up hope 🙏🏽❤️

Yes! I had read a lot of women were using it to support their early pregnancies so I just asked for it at EPU! But they agreed with my history and I’ll take it until I’m 16 weeks🤞🏽. I can’t say for sure but I tell myself it has saved this one after such bad luck! Although I was told if you’re going to mc it won’t actually stop that but trying all I can to hold on to this one❤️
