Has anyone been to the NCT classes in Edinburgh?

Hi All,

I have got a place on NCT birth preparation classes. They are two day long classes on consecutive weekends and then an evenign class on breastfeeding. HOWEVER, i have been going to yoga classes at Elemental Classes, and have heard that the workshop that Caitlin Heavey runs is great. I have not heard how good the NCT classes are and am not sure whether to cancel them in favour of Caitlin or not. I have been told that doing both is overkill!

Any advise?

Hi, I did NCT in Edinburgh and found it really useful. I did the one where you go for a couple of hours one evening for about 7 weeks. Mine was in Fairmilehead. I thought the info was good and more inportantly I made some really god friends and we went to some post natal groups together. However I've no idea what the Elemental Classes are like and they may be better, and you'll still meet people there too. I guess just go with whatever suits you time-wise etc as I'd imagine they can't be too different

I did and I found it useful, too, especially afterwards when an NCT counsellor came to our flat and stayed with me most of the evening and some of the night helping me get DD2 sorted when she was about a week old and my milk came and it started to go off the rails, which I did not want to happen.

It really came into its own then!

Well this is going to be useless I'm afraid - I did NCT classes in Edinburgh and found them pretty good (if a touch idealistic). But them I also did ante-natal yoga classes with Caitlin heavey, where she included alot of general discussion about birthing and that was also useful.

So you win either way!

Thanks for your help, looks like both are good options. Decision!
