private genetic carrier screening test

Does anyone know where I can do a private genetic carrier screening test in the UK? Has anyone actually done the test here?

My sister in the US has done the test (Horizon Carrier Genetic Screening Test) for a reasonable price ( 250 USD) and they have checked if she is carrier for over 250 genetic conditions. I am looking for something similar here. Any thought?

I guess this is probably way later than you needed it but there are UK sellers of this test, and resellers of the Horizon test in the UK. I can't recommend any because I haven't taken one myself but this info might be useful.

It's usually recommended for couples because it tests for recessive conditions - things that don't show up in your children if only one person in the couple is a carrier, but might show up if both of you carry the gene. They usually suggest the woman takes the test first (because women carry conditions linked to the X chromosome which men don't) and then test the male partner only for the conditions that turn up in the female partner's test results. So if you can, look for tests that give you a discount for couples or a discount for the partner going back. The panel size varies from company to company and the cost can be eye-watering (depending on what's included) so do shop around and also look for one which includes a bit of time to explain the results, so if anything turns up, you can ask questions without having to go to your doctor.

Some companies resell their ECS tests by post all over the world, so the company doesn't necessarily have to be based here: CircleDNA, Invitae.
