Hi, I'm 34wks pregnant and have just been told by my midwife that my blood platetlet count is low (138). It was 147 at my last visit so seems to be falling. Apparently normal range is 150-400. Does anyone else have any experience with this or know why this might be happening...should I worry? They are arranging an appointment with a consultant for me but can't help worrying until then....

Not sure how much help I can be but maybe I can bump for you. I had low platelets from 29 weeks as a symptom of pre-eclampsia, they went up and down quite a lot (were about 60 at the lowest). I don't know why it happens outside pre-eclampsia/HELLP syndrome, but I'm sure you will be well monitored by the consultant and hopefully someone else will drop by with more info!

A drop from 147 to 138 is very small, so hopefully this is just normal fluctuation and they will have gone up again when you are next tested.
