I work for the nhs and part time so I rarely cross paths with my line manager. Is it wrong to email them to inform them of pregnancy rather than face to face?

No, if that’s the only way you can communicate with them for a while. Put in the email that you’d obviously rather do this face-to-face, but your schedules mean you don’t see them. The sooner you tell them the sooner you can have a risk assessment. Plus then if you did need any l time off they’re going to know what it’s for.
