Wondering if anyone can help me, the first day of my last period was 7th April and i randomly tested on 6th May and got a positive (it wasn’t faint at all but the control line was definitely slightly darker). I took a digital around 5 days later which said 2-3 weeks and another pink dye around 4 days after that where the test line was definitely darker than the control line. I usually have long irregular cycles around 33-38 days and i ovulated a week late with my son when i fell pregnant with him.

I booked an early reassurance scan for thurs 25th may thinking i should be 7 weeks along but the sonographer said that it looked like i was around 5+2 and you could only see the yolk sac but no fetus/heartbeat. They’ve asked me to come back in 2 weeks time.

What do you think are the chances of seeing a baby/heartbeat in 2 weeks time? Or is this a missed miscarriage?

I have had a missed miscarriage before but not before seeing the heartbeat at a previous early scan and i did have an early scan with my son because of pains and we couldn’t see a baby because it was too early but getting a positive test on the 6th may i would have thought we’d see a baby on the US by now?!

Hiya! I’ve just been through this. I was scanned in the early pregnancy unit 7 weeks from my period, but they could only see the sac with nothing inside, I measured at 4-5 weeks.

I was rescanned 2 weeks later and measured at 7+0, with a heartbeat visible. they said it’s probably just because I ovulated later than I thought.

good luck for your rescan, hope all goes well!

Argh sorry OP that is the worst as the anticipation is horrible.

Would they take hcG bloods 48 hours apart so you can see if it's doubling? Maybe a private GP would do it? 2-3 days' wait for answers is much better than having to wait 2 weeks.

ah congratulations that must have been such a relief for you!

when did you first test positive?

im thinking if i ovulated late then surely i wouldn’t have had a fairly strong positive on the 6th may or am i wrong in thinking that? Its so confusing!

Thats a really good idea i never thought of that. Annoyingly i was so busy with my 2 year old on friday that i completely forgot to ring my doctors so ill ring them tomorrow.

i do have sore boobs still but i had really bad sickness with my son by this point and i don’t this time around. I guess ill just get bloods done and see whats they say. Thank you!

@Lexiflan it is really confusing!

I first tested positive 2 days after my missed period but it was sooo faint, it could have probably been mistaken for an evap line! I didn’t get a really strong positive until about a week later either

Ah ok yeh it sounds like you ovulated late for sure. I took my first test a day before my period should have typically started and because it wasn’t faint its making me think i didn’t ovulate late and this is a missed miscarriage but ill go to the docs and get bloods so fingers crossed!

ill post a pic of my first test to show you the lines

For anyone who see’s this, it was a missed miscarriage unfortunately.

I am now pregnant again 6 months later, only 4+6 though so still early days (wasn’t actively trying)
