Hi all.

I'm 35 weeks and 2 days and for the past several days iv had what I can only describe as a return of 1st trimester symptoms. I feel sick all day long, and it's not just indigestion it feels more than that. I also have a permanent headache although it's not severe and dizziness like in the first 12 weeks. Yesterday i woke up and the room was spinning. Iv also got lower bcak ache again. This is my third and iv never had it come back this late before. Has anyone had anything similar and did it last until the baby was delivered?

You need to go in and get tested for pre-eclampsia ASAP. High blood pressure can cause the headache and dizziness. Fingers crossed it isn't, and I'm sure there's lots else that can cause your symptoms, but you need it ruling out - it can be deadly for both you and baby if it goes on too long undetected.

Second the urgent blood pressure check for preeclampsia. I had similar symptoms and was admitted to hospital at 36 weeks for early delivery.

I agree. Contact triage.

Thank you for your quick responses. I was wondering about pre-eclampsia as my mum had it which they said was due to her age (she was 44 when she had my brother). My headaches are not severe though like a migraine just more sickly and constant. I had my BP checked last week and if anything it was low at 101 systolic.

Yes, another one agreeing with goimg to triage here. I had my BP checked on the Weds when i was 37 and a half weeks. All fine and normal. By the Sat of the same week it was 155/110 and baby was out the next day. It's not just pre-eclampsia to be worried about but also pregnancy hypertension. Best to get it checked and reassure yourself at the very least. Good luck!

It can go up very very quickly. Your BP can be low one day then sky high the next. You could also simply be overheating etc in this weather, maybe touch of heat or sunstroke. But 100% rule out the pre-eclampsia/hypertension option first. If you call the ward they'll have you straight in.

I have a friend who got it during labour and went into full blown eclampsia and hellps after delivery. Fine during all monitoring (induction)

@TellKingTutIWantMyMummy wow that must have been scary for her!

Thanks for your posts everyone. My headache isnt severe its just always there in the background. It is very mild now. It's more the dizziness and constant nausea that's getting me down. My husband is on nights so in bed today and back at work tonight, but if my headaches get worse tomorrow and become severe I will definitely ring triage.

Just adding to those who say get checked out. I developed it suddenly at 37 weeks. I had seen the midwife for a routine appt just the Tuesday before and everything was fine and the following Monday I had been admitted to hospital. Please don’t wait. Good luck and hope it isn’t pre-eclampsia.

CC222 · 29/05/2023 13:34

I don't think you should wait, definitely best to get it checked out. If it's something like preeclampsia, the sooner it's discovered the better. And if it's nothing to worry about, at least you'll have peace of mind.
Hope all is ok x

toomuchlaundry · 29/05/2023 13:38

Why are you waiting? At least try and phone someone for advice

Tulip2478 · 30/05/2023 17:53

Got my blood pressure checked today. Its absolutely fine. Still not sure what's causing my headaches and sickness but assume it must be hormones because it feels just like first trimester symptoms. Iv never had it come back before so it feels very strange.
