I have namechanged temporarily as I am seeking advise on breaking the news to dh that the accidental 3rd preganancy is here [quake]

I am on the pill and didn't have the normal withdrawl bleed so I took the test an hour ago to check did NOT think it would be so very definately positive - so shit shit shit shit etc.

We have a 3.5yo and a nearly 2yo so were just about coming out of the nappies and into pre-school, school and all that. Really not planninhg this oh bugger.

I will be ok what will be will be and it is early stages yet (though no idea exactly how far along I am??) but dh is not good with the unexpected iykwim - he is likely too freak how can i break it to him gently???

bugger bugger bugger etc. ad infinitum...

Well I have told him.

It was over the phone as he rang to say he was leaving work (a little bit late) and when I sounded weird (i tried not to!) he demanded to know instantly what the matter was - he was shocked of course but he was lovely about it saying that once he had got over the shock he would be delighted and he hoped I would be too.

I feel very fortunate to be married to such a lovely man.

Sadly DH's Nan died nearly 4 weeks ago - she was a very devoted Great Nan to my two and would have been delighted about another.

I will still hold off telling my Mum about the pg until she is safely in her new home as she will freak out about 'leaving' me when a new baby is on the way but as the only way for her to stay is moving in with us - it ain't happening.

I am actually Bigmouthstrikesagain btw.

I suppose I need to find the due in Oct(?) threads now... (though not going to know due date for a while i don't think)

I am still going 'Oh shit' every few minutes at the moment - thinking about what this is going to mean... new car, no spare cash etc. c'est la vie

Mrs T - I wish that of pg test was available - as the thin blue line appeared so instantly I could hardly draw breath to scream 'Farrrk' a cup of tea would have really helped.

NatalieJane · 20/02/2008 20:29

Oh I am pleased he was OK BMSA What a relief for you no doubt!

I suppose a proper CONGRATULATIONS is in order now

NorthernLurker · 20/02/2008 20:30

MrsTittleMouse · 20/02/2008 20:40

Hurray!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 20/02/2008 20:42

Thank you for the congrats - I feel sick at the moment but that is cos I have been stuffing my face with After eight Mints I did wonder why I bought them yesterday - cravings!!!

I ate about a tonne of turkish delight in my last pg (plus those choc covered marshmallows from Ikea - wasn't easy getting a regular supply of those). Why can't I crave carrots?

MrsJohnCusack · 20/02/2008 21:20

congrats and what a lovely man you are married to

(I recognise your name - always remember it as big fan of the Smiths)

Congratulations bigmouth. I do love the opportunity for a bit of vicarious broodiness!

Simply · 20/02/2008 21:35

Congratulations!

missConStrude · 20/02/2008 23:18

I'm in exactly the same boat.
Just found out we're expecting number 3. This was not part of The Master Plan and DH was adamant that he didn't want another one. Ever.
But shockingly he's been fine about it and was even keen to talk about names tonight (we've known for 2 days).
Glad your DH took it so well.

Lulumama · 20/02/2008 23:19

congratulations to both of you!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 20/02/2008 23:23

Hello misconstrued

Well we are not at the naming stage yet - but with time we will get there. I am glad you and your DH are coping so well - Congratulations to you both and good luck!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 20/02/2008 23:24

Sorry - Missconstrude

missConStrude · 20/02/2008 23:27

It's just a temporary name. Don't want to use my real name in case anyone from rl recognises me. I'm not ready for this to become common knowledge yet.

mummoomin · 21/02/2008 04:50

I just wanted to say I am kind of in the same boat (unexpected third)...thought I would be 5 or 6 weeks, as had bleeds on the pill, this month no bleed,...and Im 16 weeks as it turns out. So I would maybe order in the cup of tea before the scan in case you are further along than you thought you might be. I almost fainted!

Congratulations, it does happen, and I am very pleased that your dh took the news well!

belgo · 21/02/2008 07:45

congratulations bigmouthstrikesagain! I'm so glad telling your dh worked out fine.

lollipopmother · 21/02/2008 09:26

Gosh I don't envy you ladies who've had to tell your DH's, I was bricking it when I found out that I was pg and we had planned it (although it happened much quicker than we had expected)!!

Mummoomin - 16 weeks! Oh my lord, I thought it was only people in magazines that this happened to, I thought they were making it up for the £100 article payment!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 21/02/2008 09:32

Oh bloody hell mummoomin - I suppose it was good to get through that tense 1st trimester w/out knowing but heck that is what I am afraid of Sept/ Oct is nicely far away whereas June/ July is a bit close for comfort!

I won't find out till after hol though as only have a gp appt on friday - he won't be able to tell me anything.

missConStrude · 21/02/2008 10:37

Looks like I spoke too soon. Have had bleeding this morning. Period not due for two more days.

NorthernLurker · 21/02/2008 11:33

I'm sorry to hear that miss - hope you get through the next few days ok

bigmouthstrikesagain · 21/02/2008 12:09

I am so sorry Misscon - I hope you are ok - I have been trying to prepare myself for the worst at this early stage but it is so hard even when the pregnancy is unplanned.
