Fundal height measurement

Bit confused at my midwife appointment today - it was my first fundal
height measurement and he measured from my public bone all the way to the top of my stomach just under my sternum. im 24 weeks, I thought the uterus was only just meant to come just above the belly button. Lying down now and I just can’t feel where it would be but it doesn’t feel like it’s that high up (still soft there)

Usually the midwife feels for the top of the uterus- the fundus. This is the top but back part of your uterus which is why it seems they are measuring higher up than expected.
They are trained to feel a lot that we can't- I could never feel what position my baby was lying in from the outside but my midwife always knew.
From 24 weeks the fundal height should be approx how many weeks so 24cm +/- 2 cm. Did you see what your measurement was?

Presumably your next appointment is at 28 weeks, if you have any concerns about technique you could just ask your midwife to explain what they are measuring as a polite way of sussing out what they are doing.

Hi. The uterus comes all the way up to just below your sternum.
