Has anyone had a sudden worsening of their acid reflux at this point in second trimester? Midwife suggests Gaviscon (I’ve been living on Rennies) but just worried as it’s gone from a few kinds of food triggering it to absolutely everything, even water. Was up all night on and off being half-sick and just feeling scared to eat anything to be honest! Even a yogurt an hour ago has me retching now and in a lot of pain. Does it get better? I’ve been very lucky with pregnancy so far and had no sickness but this seems to have really crept up on me in severity and I don’t want to end up not eating out of fear of how crap I’ll feel after!

omeprazole=game changer!! Defo speak to a dr about getting some 😊 I've depended on it in third trimester. Xx

Yes, ask for Omeprazole, take it daily before meals and try to stay clear of anything acidic (tomatoes, citruses etc), fizzy, caffeine, chocolate and I'd suggest even dairy as that caused it for me. Once I have removed all of these from my diet, the stomach had a chance to heal. This was pre pregnancy but I still find the same works.

Agree omeprazole. For my first 3 pregnancies, I had awful reflux pretty much from the start I mentioned it so many times to MW and got told Gaviscon. Doesn't work at all. My third I vomited multiple times a day with the reflux until she was born.

4th saw posts on MN and realised there were options other than gaviscon so asked my GP who prescribed omeprazole. Total game changer. Had it prescribed as soon as I got pregnant with 5th.
