Bleeding again after misscarige

Hi All,

Looking for some advice please. I had a misscarige on the 12th of May, it was a blighted ovum, I thought I was 7 weeks but it was an empty sac measuring around 4 weeks.

The bleeding was heavy for a few days but after around 3 days it tailed off to more of a discharge and after 6 days it stopped completely.

I have now started bleeding again very lightly, more like a bloody discharge but I wondered if this was normal?

I've never had a miscarriage before and I'm not entirely sure what I should expect in the coming weeks.

Talk to your doctor. You might need a D&C to remove anything that didn't come out. So sorry for you - it's heartbreaking.

@TheHopefulMum i had this. I had a 9 day bleed after 6+2 and 2 weeks later I started to get brown blood again but not as much. I contacted my clinic and they were happy because it meant my body was definitely getting rid of everything. It was mucusy more than the brown blood which changed into a fresh blood bleed. I think if you're bleeding then you're body is getting it out and you might not need a d&c but I don't know 🤷🏼‍♀️. I have since had a scan after my 40 day cycle and everything looks great and normal

@fox01 thank you for that, sounds reassuring. I'm fairly sure everything has gone, unfortunately it was just an empty 4 week sac which I lost on the 12th if may, there was never a baby unfortunately. Not sure if that makes it easier or harder as I had obviously believed there was.

I'll see how I get on over the next few days as it seems to have stopped again now and then give EPU a call if I have any concerns. They've advised me to just do a pregnancy test 3 weeks from the day I started bleeding and providing it's negative I won't need any further treatment.
