hi all, I have a friend who is 27wks pg and is about to be signed off for one reason and another, she has asked me when being signed off sick turns into matty leave and I can't remember

I think its about 36wks but could be making that up, its been known to happen!

I think it's 36 weeks as well - but she can go on maternity leave earlier if she wants - 29 weeks? but her employer cannot compel her to do so.

It is 36 weeks.

i think it depends if the sick leave is to do with the pregnancy. i thought if it was then the employer could make her start her mat leave earlier than she had planned to, if it's nothing to do with the pregnancy then they can't.

oh it is 36 weeks according to direct.gov.uk
