Positive then negative

Hi,

I am four weeks. I took two tests one day apart a few days ago which were both positive before my expected period date. I left it a day and took one again yesterday which was negative (assumed drank too much water) and negative this morning. I had light brown discharge a few times over the week which I thought could be due to implantation.

Does anyone know if this means I’ve had a miscarriage? If so how would hcg disappear so quickly?

Sounds like a chemical pregnancy and the hcg will be almost nothing when your tests do not show a line. You're lines can get lighter and lighter but normally the bleed happens when hcg is very low or zero.

Thanks. Do you or anyone else have any experience of this and know what to expect now? What would the loss and bleed be like and how long bleed would last?

If you have a chemical pregnancy once, is it likely to happen again?

@sayna i had one with my fresh ivf transfer. My test lines progressed and then stopped progressing and I had about 2 weeks of no bleed and then at 6+2 the bleed started. It was just brown spotting which I never had and then the full bleed was 2 days later which lasted 9 days of passing brown clots (I knew my lining was about 22mm so lots to pass) and then my cycle lasted 40 days with ovulation at the end.

Apparently you're more fertile after a chemical or miscarriage but I don't know as im ivf. You can get recurrent miscarriage but that might not happen. Everyone is different.

I had 2 later losses and then a chemical pregnancy in the July . With the chemical I had no heavier bleeding etc just similar to my period bleed. I then conceived in the August and he is now 3 !
