OPINIONS PLEASE

Hi all,

This is my first pregnancy so everything is new to me. I am 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I have been bleeding and have lower belly pain. I went for a scan they couldn’t see any sign of baby. My HCG levels on 11th May were 33 and on 20th May it was 130. Is this normal? The hospital gave me an appointment for Monday to check my HCG levels again to see if it’s rising and another scan. I’m thinking this could be a miscarriage or could I have conceived later than I thought?

Hiya, to be honest that doesn't sound promising. Bleeding doesn't necessarily mean bad news - I had a red bleed at 6 weeks and that baby is currently on my lap snoozing, but I think it's worth preparing yourself for bad news, could be a MC or ectopic. It sounds like you're being looked after, though.

I'll have my fingers crossed for good news at your next scan. ❤️ And if it is bad news, for what it's worth I had two MCs as 5 and 8 weeks, and then a successful and largely uneventful pregnancy. For some of us it's just a longer game than for others.

If I’m honest those rise in levels aren’t great. General rule of thumb they should double every 2-3 days. So you should have seen late 100s or into the 1000s after 10 days.
I would prepare for bad news and hope for a miracle.
It’s so hard and many people don’t talk about this in pregnancy. I shall keep my fingers crossed!

Thank you both! Yeahh I’ve prepared myself for bad news. I’ve accepted that it will most likely be a miscarriage. My only concern now is where is the fetus. Could this be an ectopic pregnancy?? I woke with no pain so I’m confused.
