Meds purely for nausea

Nearly 8 weeks and the nausea is becoming too much too handle- I feel hungover from the minute I wake up to when I go to sleep and it's getting worse, no sickness yet but constantly heaving 🤢

Has anyone been prescribed anti sickness meds purely for nausea and did they help?

Try eating a grapefruit and ginger or peppermint tea

Ask GP and explain early pregnancy. I had awful nausea. The medicine helped a bit but made me sooooooooooo tired. More tired than normal and I couldn't function so stopped taking them.

I’m 9 weeks and got some meds a couple of days ago, I still feel a little sick but I’m not dry heaving any more! Like the poster above I had tried Cariban but they made me too sleepy so I had to stop taking them. I got prescribed Stemitil instead and it’s helped a little

I had really bad sickness/ nausea and Ondansetron was the only medication that worked for me. Hope your GP can give you something and you feel better soon.

I had meds for nausea, it was debilitating I ended up on ondansetron, found that and resting lots really really helped.

I was on Cariban from 5w pregnant until the birth for debilitating nausea. I only took 1 a day (I think you can take up to 4) because they make you really sleepy. I still felt nauseous but it was manageable.

Don't suffer in silence! Ask your GP for a prescription.

Same position here! Currently 12+4, constant nausea but not much actual throwing up. Got Prochlorperazine from GP but found it just made me tired rather than helped. Anything with ginger is good, and I have travel sickness wrist bands too which work, also I find if I’m over hungry it makes my nausea worse. The joys of pregnancy!

I had severe hyperemisis, was on prochlorazine from 5 weeks. They stopped working and tried the usual ones which seemed to work for a bit but always ended up not working after a few months. I was signed offnwork the entire time due to it. I lost 9 stone through the entire pregnancy, son was born weighing a lovely 6lbs 5oz at 38 weeks at c section. I feel for you, it's rubbish puking all the time. Ironically I'm 37 weeks pregnant now (girl) and haven't puked once lol. Defo go to your gp and get somethingto see if it helps.

hey it’s a horrible feeling isn’t it, I’m 7+6 and have been struggling the last couple of weeks with severe nausea. I went to the gp on Monday and they gave me cyclazine which didn’t do anything for me, went back on Thurs as I felt so poorly and they said I had hyperemisis and an infection starting! Prescribed me prochlorazpine and I feel a lot better to what I was, not 100% but I have never felt as poorly as I did. Hope you get something that works for you x

Thanks everyone! Just waiting for 8 so I can ring the doctors and try and get an appointment - I honestly don't know how anyone gets through with HG, the nausea is too much for me and im normally fine! I can't remember feeling this bad with my first.

@CMG92 same dates 😊
