Hi all, I’m 6+4 with my first pregnancy after trying for 2 years.

we had a scan at 6+1 and the sonographer said he was quite happy things were in the right places etc. I had had some brown spotting prior to the scan, but none for about a week now.

I have bouts of feeling quite tired, and I have bouts of what feels a bit like travel sickness feeling but it quickly passes (often with a burp?) there’s a tummy ache every now and then. None of the symptoms are constant and some days I’m not really feeling anything!

can anyone offer any advice if this all seems about right? I’m just so anxious about losing what we have waited so long for! The waiting game until a next scan is terrible!! Doesn’t help I’ve been full of cold the last week or so too which is making me wonder if what I’m feeling is related to cold or pregnancy lol.

many thanks for any advice 🙏 🩵

Very normal :) enjoy the feeling nothing before it kicks off!

Sounds about right to me! I’m 6+3 and have had no sicky feelings or fatigue at all. Only thing really telling me I’m pregnant is sore boobs (and starting to get sciatica!)! Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy x

Thank you for replying and you too! Is this your first? I think I just expected to feel something permenantly lol. I wish there was a way to check in on them each day to know they are still growing as they should lol x

Yes it’s my first! It’s crazy how before the BFP you’re just so excited at the possibility and as soon as you find out, you become full of worry! You could always book an early scan if you need some reassurance. I’ve got one booked for 7+6 - then can relax if symptoms are still minimal x

sashastuck · 19/05/2023 20:31

Sorry I just read that you did have an early scan already! Could always do another at 8 or 9 weeks BUT I would not worry if I were you! Would be nice to see the heartbeat though! X

Skyplatypus · 19/05/2023 20:38

i was expecting the early scan to be an internal one but it was actually an abdominal one and there was a heartbeat, when he told me I started crying lol! So I feel lucky that we were able to pick that up! Got another private one booked for week 9 then hopefully the nhs one at 12 weeks… just to tide me over. And I completely agree I was so shocked when it said +, I’ve been more anxious now than I was when ttc 😂 lol. You will need to let me know how your scan goes! I’m sure it will be all fine. The thing I am fast learning is no two pregnancies are the same with symptoms etc! I shouldn’t moan I’m not getting many really as I know some people are crippled with sickness etc! Xx

@Skyplatypus Congratulations 😊 I actually found that I was the most anxious I’ve ever been in life during my pregnancy! I kept expecting it to stop at certain milestones but it actually got worse and I wasn’t really prepared for that so it’s just something to keep in mind 😅
I had told myself that I’d relax after the 12 week scan - once I knew baby was fine I’d be able to relax and enjoy it. Nope! Then all my symptoms disappeared about 14 weeks - too early to be feeling any movement or anything so again, back to just having nothing to go on at all. Told myself I’d be fine after the 20 week scan. Nope! Then I was paranoid that I wasn’t able to feel movement yet. Told myself I’d be fine once I started feeling movement. Nope! Then I was paranoid about how much movement 😬😅

Oh really! I’m the same I’m not usually an anxious person so I’m not even sure if some of how I feel is pregnancy related or just anxiety symptoms lol. Have you had baby now? Did you find anything to help you to try and keep your mind occupied or did midwife suggest anything to try and help you feel calmer? I think I’ll be like you lol, I’m praying for a good 12 weeks scan to try relax but part of me knows I won’t until it’s here in my arms lol xx

@Skyplatypus I’m not usually a very anxious person either so it took me by surprise to be honest! Hopefully you’ll be fine and you’ll feel much better after your 12 week scan but it’s just worth keeping in mind that it may go on longer!
Yeah, I’ve had baby now! He’s now 2.5 😊 I was pregnant during the first lockdown and my area was a nightmare so I had a booking in phonecall at 10 weeks, scan at 12 weeks, actually saw a midwife at 25 weeks and then again at 36 weeks and a scan at 20 weeks and that’s all the contact I had so midwives didn’t really give much advice unfortunately!

I wouldn’t really say that there was a huge amount that helped me tbh. I just tried to be as sensible/safe as I could and really follow all the guidelines with regards to things like caffeine/sleep positions/food etc and just kept telling myself that I was doing everything in my power to make sure baby was healthy.

sashastuck · 20/05/2023 07:07

@Skyplatypus @LittleBumblebee3 I’m with you completely regarding the anxiety! I’ve actually woken up with my sore boobs gone today so of course I’m in a tizz now. I also obsess over my resting heart rate, I’m getting better with it but as soon as there’s a drop I panic!

I’m so happy you’ve already seen a heartbeat @Skyplatypus 💕 that’s beautiful and a big reassurance. I’ll try to remember to update you after my scan!

Congratulations! All that you are feeling is totally normal. With regards to the anxiety, I find pregnancy meditations really helpful. I use an app called Insight Timer that’s free. Just search pregnancy and there’s loads. Best of luck with your pregnancy 💛
