Hi Everyone,
New mam to be here, i went for my 28 week appointment baby is still breech and when my midwife measured me i'm measuring at 32. She said this could be because baby is breech and when he/she turns my measurement may change. Has anyone else had the same? I'm now worried baby is going to be a lot bigger or come sooner than we expected. Thank you in advance!! :)

Had exactly the same at 28 weeks. Measuring 32.had gtt test and negative. Went again at 32 weeks. Baby measuring behind, sent for growth scan. Told on the cusp for being a big baby. Went again at 34 weeks again measuring behind. Sent for growth scan, again on the cusp for big baby. Measures as 6lb14 at 34 weeks. Told to expect 9lb 6 at birth. Had baby at 38 weeks. Weighed 6lb 13oz...needed smaller clothes and size 0 nappies 😂.
Have you had a growth scan?

A lot of people i've asked have said the same about being told it's a big baby then they are tiny when they are born! She has booked me in for a 31 week appointment and said she will take another measurement then. She said if it drops lower i will need a scan or massively increases i will need a scan but if it stays even then on the centile line (this still confuses me haha) then i don't need one. x

They have a error rate of at least 10 percent either way apparently. I worked out eventually that it was my littke ones belly that distorted it all, his belly is huge. The do head circumference, femur length and abdominal Circumfere and that gives them the estimated weight etc try not to worry too much. I was beside myself and nearly switched to a c section so many times because of it. Feel free to pm me at any point xx

At our 28 week midwife appointment the baby was measured as off the chart huge based on fundal height (ie size of bump). This isn’t a very accurate way of determining the size of the baby, because it’s including everything in the bump- baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, your fat…

We had a 32 week growth scan (ironically because another health condition comes with the risk baby is small) and baby was absolutely average.

So take bump measuring with a pinch of salt.
