Consultant led & MAOU

Hello all,
New here so please be gentle with me!
Im looking for advice/past experience of consultant led pregnancies. Im currently 31 weeks pregnant and have been back and forth between consultant clinics and the Maternity Assesment Outpatients Unit due to scans and then needing doctor approval of said scans.

Im finding that the two departments do not communicate with each other and we are being sent here there and everywhere for scans. So, we are consultant led as baby is classed as Fertility baby (IUI). Because we had an additional scan due to this, they found baby is small so we now seem to be under the care of two different departments who do not communicate with each other.

For example, we should see the consultant at 32 weeks in our local hospital. No appointment received for clinic. However, we’ve received a scan for 32 weeks.
Coming to 34 weeks, we’ve received a consultant clinic appointment but no scan.
So, and this is where I’m looking for advice, this means that after our 32 week scan, we will then have to travel 15 miles to a different hospital to sit in MAOU for a doctor to talk to us about said scan. We were only there on Tuesday for another scan where we sat there for 6 hours.

There is one doctor that covers the whole unit (scans, ward, deliveries, emergencies) so I can understand the wait. However, once you see the doctor, you have a 2 minute conversation where they tell you the scan is fine and you’re sent on your way.

Has anyone else experienced this before? Is this normal procedure? To be sent to a different hospital after a scan just so a doctor can look at it and say “yes all fine”. We are having to do this every week and it’s taking it’s toll on us, work and the baby at this point. We want baby to be healthy and to make sure everything is ok but the way it works seems off.

I hope this all makes sense to someone else and they can advise as I’m at my wits end.

That sounds insane. My recent maternity experience is that no one communicates, but your set up is crazy. Can you point it out to whoever is making the appointments?

I’m thankful that someone else thinks it’s bizarre.
I phoned the clinic yesterday (number on the appointment letters rings out and so have to go through switchboard!) and the lady I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about and when I said “why do the two not communicate” her reply was “I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THEY DO!”
I was told I’d receive a call back, but never did and now I have phoned them 5 times today for the number to again ring on and on.
Im at a loss other than phoning the midwife but I don’t think they will know much more!
