Any pics of sexing scans? Need to be armed before the big day!

My hospital is one of those that won't tell you the sex of the baby so I am going to try to spot it for myself at 20wk scan next week.

I've heard it's pretty tough though, so can anyone recommend me any sites where they have pics of sexing scans?

Need to know exactly what I am looking for when they zoom in!

Just out of interest, or are you going to plan according to what you see? Because that might be a bit rash...

No no, not doing a pink/blue nursery or anything stupid! I just really want to know and I'm annoyed that I can't find out, whereas if I lived 20mins up the road I could!

Borglady they may avoid the area altogether - why not just have a surprise! I wish I could but my dh is a cardiologist and knows what he is looking at as used to looking at scans...

When I had mone done it was REALLY obvious that it was a boy very quickly into the scan as he very clearly had a willy. Much more difficult to see a girl. As much as they won't tell you if it's a boy or girl I wonder if you asked them to zoom in on the baby's nether regions to make your own judgement they would be Ok with it?

Trolley Don't want this to kick off but.... there is a reason for hospitals doing this in some areas and that is to avoid certain ethnic groups aborting girls. They can't have one rule for one set of women having scans and one set for another. I agree it is annoying but not the end of the world not to know the sex of your baby. The scan is an anomaly scan and it just so happens they can (usually) tell you the sex.

I think it's nicer to find out when you have 20 weeks to calmly appreciate it rather than when you're in a complete state and so tired that you wouldn't care if it was an aardvark as long as it was out. But then I think I had a particularly grim labour (large OP DD).
When they measured the femur length of DD it was obvious (to me) that there were two lines (the labia) between her legs rather than two circles (testicles). The sonographer then confirmed that DD was a girl. She was basically mooning the probe though, so she made it really easy.

Trolley Don't bet on it - some people wouldn't have the money/wouldn't see the reason not to believe the NHS and some people just aren't that bright. Odd response from your hospital though.
