Hi
I've recently found out at 8DPO that I am pregnant. This is my first pregnancy and I have no idea what to expect.

My period is due or would be due Saturday 20th May. So far I've experienced cramps, lower back ache, needing to pee more, boobs that feel like they're on fire and occasional wind.

The cramping has varied from being central in the uterus to extremely one sided to the right, a dull ache and then at 3.15am this morning it was severe to the point it woke me up. Once I had went to the toilet to pee and took some paracetamol it passed.

What I'm wondering is I feel like Aunt Flow is going to come and ruin it all as that's the pain I have and because she would be due on the weekend is this potentially why I am experiencing these pains? And once I've gotten past what would be my period dates will these cramps pass?

Thanks x

Hi and congrats on the news!

I got positives on 9DPO/10DPO and was due on at that time too due to having a short luteal phase. I was still getting cramps that felt like AF was coming but it never did. I had cramping on and off for a few weeks after that and some pinkish discharge at times too. I did get very anxious as it was the first time I'd been pregnant and I still thought I was either going to come on or have a chemical! All has been fine and I am now almost 14 weeks.

We don't all have the same experiences but that is what I had. Hopefully it sticks for you.

I feel terrible my cramps have been so bad. The last two nights I've woken between 3-4am I've woken up in severe pain. I don't know if it's because my period should be due but I'm praying it passes x

Congratulations OP

I felt like my period was going to start at any time up until 6-7 weeks and I’m now 26 weeks and everything is all good so far.

you shouldn’t have severe pain at any stage though so if it’s really that bad I would contact your GP.

Thank you!

I've spoken to her twice this week but she said as long as there's no bleeding it's okay. Prior to conceiving naturally I was told I would need IVF as I have endometriosis and we had tried for two years. When I do get my menstrual cycle it's horrific and that's what it's been feeling like during the night when it's woken me up. I am meant to be on my period at the moment so possibly that's why? X
