Hello

I am just about 4 weeks pregnant (first day of last period 17th April, 31 day cycle). I have low left sided pelvic pain, maybe my ovary? It's a constant dull ache for the last couple of days that doesn't require pain relief. No blood.
Is it normal? I have an early scan booked in a month for 8 weeks.
I did an early pregnancy test which told me I was pregnant and it was a faint line, then a pregnancy test that confirmed "pregnant" with the clear blue words. I am wondering if I should keep taking pregnancy tests to see if the line gets darker and will that be reassurance then?

Hi lovely,

That must be really scary. I had similar with DD (she's now 5). I had to really push for a scan with the NHS, it was only because I'd pushed that they even gave me the scan despite the fact that they said it might have been an ectopic pregnancy!

It ended up being a twin pregnancy where one hadn't taken and was being absorbed back into the womb and I was 6 weeks pregnant with 1 healthy baby! It could be anything, if you are at all worried, call your local midwifery unit and express your concerns, they should get you in for a scan earlier if there are concerns of it being ectopic.

I really hope it's just your body doing what it needs to and it's a perfectly healthy pregnancy 😊

Oh! And I think we're all guilty of keeping on taking test after test just to be sure. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't done the best part of 7 tests in the last 3-4 days!! Not something I would recommend because it becomes a ritual, but if it would help ease your mind then do what you need to

I had something similar, pain was always there and mainly worse when I coughed, sneezed etc. Had it from 3-4 weeks but am now nearly 6 weeks and thankfully it seems to have gone, fingers crossed for you too!

Hello, I am 19 days late for my period. My cycle is usually 33 days. I may be late sometimes but usually by 2-3 days max. I have taken 8 pregnancy home tests which have all come back negative. I have been to the doctors who have also given me 2 pregnancy tests which are also negative. I had my HCG done which came back as normal. I had pale pink discharge twice a day for two days on Monday, Tuesday this week but only when I wiped. And I have had two days of watery brown discharge since which includes today. Yesterday I started with a pain in my lower left back. I had a ectopic pregnancy with a fallopian tube removal near 7 years ago and the pain feels similar but not as bad. I was told I would be 90% more at risk of having another. The doctor has told me I am not pregnant due to negative test and normal bloods. My breasts hurt on and off, the pain in my side comes and goes and my temperature is uncontrollable. The doctor said if the pain get any worse to go straight to A&E. What can I do next? It’s constantly on my mind? And I feel the doctors have just fobbed me off. If I don’t get another period by the end of June I will go back as I haven’t had a period since the end of March.

I had an ectopic last year.

I was 5 days late before I got my BFP and the line was a bit faint. I had a lot of cramping sensations but otherwise no issues. I started bleeding at 7 weeks exactly. I was dismissed by EPU as a worried first time mother to be.

A couple of days later the bleeding got worse and EPU agreed to see me. That was when the scan showed it was ectopic. I was sent home to come back two days later for further bloods but had to go to A&E the following evening with a rupture and needed emergency surgery.

I was told I am now at increased risk for another ectopic (10% risk compared to 1-2% risk of an ectopic for women who haven't already have one). I now get early scans for any future pregnancy between 5-6 weeks which is the earliest chance something can be seen. My next pregnancy was found in my uterus at 5+2 but unfortunately I miscarried.

If you suspect an ectopic, please push to be seen. If you develop abdominal pain or shoulder pain, please go to A&E.

My abdominal pain and shoulder pain wasn't severe so bear that in mind too - the advice is severe pain but mine really wasn't. I honestly wouldn't have initially noticed it or worried if I hadn't known I was at risk.
