Antibiotics at 6 weeks

Hi there

I would like to know if any women on here have taken antibiotics early on in their first trimester?

I am6/7 weeks pregnant. I was suspected of a UTI but this came back clear. I had taken antibiotics (amoxicillin) for 2 days only that my doctor prescribed. Once result came
back clear I stopped taking immediately.
I am slightly anxious now as I have read there have been increased links to cleft palates when women in their first trimester are exposed to antibiotics. Although this is more associated with some other antibiotics, there has been evidence with amoxicillin too.

Please can any women who have taken antibiotics at 6 weeks or just before let me know if there experiences.
Greatly appreciated xxx

Not me but my sister during her pregnancy was taken antibiotics for 5 days, she was 5-6 weeks that time, didn't know also she was pregnant. She has healthy boy, so in her case antibiotics were not the issue. Wish you the same🙏🏻

Hi, it was a long time ago as my son is 14! But I had about 3/4 lots of ABs in pregnancy.Tonsillitis at about 7/8 weeks and a horrible chest infection from about 29 - 35 weeks. All fine

You would do better to speak to your GP or a pharmacist. No one on here can confirm that taking antibiotics will have caused (or not) anything in pregnancy.

MarieCC · 16/05/2023 08:11

@Wolfiefan I have done that already, like I said I would like to get some opinions from women who have taken them during 6 weeks

Opinions are not medical facts. If you’re anxious you need to speak to a medical professional.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 16/05/2023 09:19

No problem. But I agree with the others, speak to your MW or dr :)

TallulahBetty · 16/05/2023 09:22

Yes me, I spent early pregnancy on and off antibs due to recurrent kidney infections.. Baby fine

@Wolfiefan I am aware of the difference between a medical fact to someone’s own personal experience.
Mumsnet is an online platform to speak to other women about personal experiences. There are many threads on here where women ask other women questions…am I right? The fact you are on here in the first place with many other women suggests that you are reading others opinions, as there not all medical facts.
I appreciate responses but I’m not going to keep repeating myself .
