First trimester struggles

Hi,

So I know I'm probably not the first person to experience these struggles but I'm just having one of those days where I feel drained and fed up.

9 weeks today and constantly throwing up. Feel weak/faint. Feel breathless. Experiencing gas and constipation too (sorry tmi) and I just feel drained and not like myself anymore at all.

Just need a bit of a handhold really. Will it get better at all or shall I expect the remainder of this pregnancy to be like this too? 😢

TIA x

Yes it should get better but l'm now 21 weeks and still experiencing nausea, constipation and occasionally vomiting. So it just different for every person. Early days can be very difficult.

@BritishDesiGirl do you know what you're having? Congrats. How do you deal with the nausea?

Nausea comes and goes. It's more food aversions than anything. I gave at the smell of certain foods, even the smell from the airfryer sets me off!!

I don't know what l'm having this time, l wanted it to be a surprise. Congratulations to you too. X

Hormones peak around week 9/10 so you’re at the worst point. It should start to ease as you reach the second trimester.

babyk2023 · 14/05/2023 14:08

@PickledScrump thank you. I didn't know that. I've had a quick Google and it shows that, that's the case for many women between 9-10 weeks. What symptoms did everyone have at 9 weeks?

@BritishDesiGirl Aw. I'd never be able to have the patience to wait lol. Hope it's healthy whatever it is!

Yes, the smells of food, cigarettes (when others around me smoke) etc just sends me 🤮

Hi. Just to say if you are feeling breathless and faint with it it may be worth speaking to the GP tomorrow. Take a look at the pregnancy sickness support website. There is a PUQE questionnaire on there which can give an idea as to whether it is severe or moderate etc.
I went to GP around 9.5 weeks as I was barely able to drink etc and they took it really seriously. It took 2 types of medication but they helped so I was able to start eating and drinking again.

Best of luck it's horrible to feel so rotten.

@babyk2023 another one hating life here 🙋🏽‍♀️ 8.5 weeks today. I had a few days respite where the nausea and sickness went and I started to worry, and yesterday it came back with a vengeance. Currently on anti sickness but even that isn't doing much today 🥴 like others have said, hormones peak around now but for most eases off around 12 weeks.
This is my second, last time I was like this until 11 weeks so I'm hoping the same.
Hope you feel better soon c

Hey thought I would weigh in!

I'm 7 weeks 3 days and I swear this is really hard! I'm not even having sickness (if I stay full I tend to not feel sick), but the rapid weight gain/lack of energy/ heart palpitations/ just generally feeling like a potato, I'm finding very hard.

You're not alone xx

Same here - 9+2 had the most horrendous first start. I’ve had hot flushes at night time accompanied by nausea which have been interesting. Can’t sleep with the window closed and need constant fresh air to stop feeling sick. No energy every day feels like I’m dying of sleep deprivation by 11am.

I’m hanging on to all the mums telling me it will end soon and I’ll feel better but sometimes you feel like you’re in an endless black hole!

Hiya everyone, I know this is a fairly old thread but I'm 8+4 and feel horrendous. So knackered, no energy to do anything, im on sickness meds for my all day sickness and nausea, feel like my nose is completely blocked. I can only stomach carbs which feels unhealthy and I feel like a potato with breathlessness. Please tell me you guys are feeling better than this by now?!

Notyetamother · 09/06/2023 13:11

Hi @dogmum93, sorry you're feeling so crappy, I've not had nausea if I make sure I eat but I'm struggling so hard to do everyday things I usually would and I feel your pain. I'm 11 weeks now and I feel like things might be chilling out a little bit but still out of breathe very easily and very tired and feel huge already!
Helps to know you're not the only one and it does get better. Hugs xx

dogmum93 · 09/06/2023 14:15

@Notyetamother glad to hear it's chilling out a bit! But yeah the thing I'm struggling with today is the getting out of breath and tiredness. Hoping it's a bit related to the heat and pollen count!

Justanothercyster · 14/06/2023 18:28

@dogmum93 I wish I could say I was 😅 13+2 today and still on the anti sickness. Praying it stops soon

jadey1991 · 14/06/2023 18:35

Hi op, this is my 4th pregnancy. I am currently 14 weeks. In my first trimester I felt so tired and all I could is sleep. I've never experienced vomiting or constipation.

They do say that in your second trimester you feel so much better. To be honest I'm so so sleepy now. Other then this heat draining me.

Hope all goes well

1011ie · 14/06/2023 21:35

@dogmum93 so I’m 13 weeks + 2 now after a dating scan, I have to say in the last week or so things have picked up for me so hang on in there and hold on tight. Don’t worry about eating carbs all I ate from 7 weeks to 11.5 weeks was crisps, crackers and butter, chips and bread, anything dry carby and crispy and I could eat it. Anything else healthy or remotely ‘good’ for me I couldn’t eat. It’s stopped now and I’ve returned to my old eating habits and likes. So honestly hang on in there, you’ll feel a lot better soon. I had terrible night time sickness and now I’ve found if I’m off to sleep nice and early by 9:30 I’m absolutely great, if I burn the candle at both ends I’m back to feeling pants! Hang on!!
