I think I've just read Lambs and Cats for toxoplasmosis but is there any other reason why I shouldn't clean them out (I'd love it if there were!!)

I think if you have the animal and have done this for sometime you will have an imune system to anything that he/she carries so you should be ok. But, I may be wrong!

If you didn't beforehand, I'd wear gloves.

guinea pigs are fine i had to clean my cat out as no one else to do it when i was pregnant but wore gloves and it pretty much goes straight into bin bag any way

doctor only mentioned cat tray as being dangerous

I have four, and at my booking appointment the friend who came with me asked this question. The midwife said it was OK, but just to be on the safe side I've used disposable gloves.
