Cleaner - did anyone hire one?

For a just a couple of months after baby arrived? Seriously considering it for 4 weeks before and 6 weeks after but not sure about having a stranger in the house. Or, does anyone have a cleaner as a usual part of their week?

What did you get them to do? I am thinking, cleaning bathrooms, floors, changing bedding, dusting and may be some ironing?

I have a weekly cleaner and its fab not to have to worry about housework. The only suggestions I would make are to go with personal recommendations if you can (or check netmums.com under the household help for your area), always always always check references and agree up front the cost and what they will / will not do. Our does all the stuff you mentioned except changing bedding and she will do other stuff (i.e. cleaning windows) if I ask her to.

I'm 30 weeks pg and after the baby arrives, I'm going to cut the cleaning down to every other week as my mum and MIL will be with me for some time and will help out, plus I want to spend time getting used to my new way of life.

Thanks for this. My mum died and I don't have any family locally except mother in law but she's nearly 80! Hence the reason I am thinking along these lines.
