Baby measuring behind at 20 week anomaly scan

I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this , my dating scan baby was measuring perfect (exact weeks )
I had my 20 week scan last week and baby was measuring 1 week behind and looks low on the chart they put in my folder .
nothing was said at the scan to me apart from everything looked fine .
im now kicking myself for not mentioning anything there and then ! And now I’m worrying myself about it .

my son was always measuring big at 97th centile so think this has worried me comparing the two ! This baby is a girl so I’m not sure if that makes a difference there .
has anyone else experienced this ?
tia ! X

Girls are slightly smaller than boys. Your baby is sitting in a very healthy place on the graph, if your midwife/sonographer had been concerned they would have said something.

Some people are small and some people are big, and as long as they’re within the normal range it doesn’t really matter. The graphs are used to chart growth between visits, they want to see consistent growth. Also these measurements aren’t very precise, so I wouldn’t get too bogged down!

Thank you for taking your time to reply ! Think I just wanted to hear abit of reassurance.
I had a scan at 11 weeks and a rescan at 13 as measurements then were difficult and she sat above the middle of the chart , and obviously the 20 week mark she is below that . I’m sure they would have mentioned something If there was concerns though .

My charts are literally the exact same as yours ! 20 week scan today .
I was quite shocked as my boy was always above 95th - this one’s a girl . I’ve been asked to go back at 28 weeks for a growth scan .

Did they say to you if anything could be wrong or just a small baby? Think I’ll ask my midwife at my next appointment as it has been playing on my mind. Keep me updated how you get on x

No they didn’t seem too concerned as said everything looked good - they did say obviously she’s measuring small but they will just keep an eye on the growth - I’m quite worried but just need to wait and see. Yes let me know how you get on too x

Midwife sonographer here - your picture is quite blurry so I can’t make out the numbers but it looks like it plots ok to me on the centiles. There is a wide variety of normal and if they were worried about the size they would’ve said it to you! The third trimester is when they usually start gaining the weight. Did they say what weight baby was?

Ghayx · 27/05/2023 23:00

@AfterGlow87 hi baby weighed 10oz at 20 weeks

@Ghayx hope you’re doing okay . I had a follow up scan yesterday and baby girls now measuring perfectly with long legs (me and DH are tall) consultant was very relaxed and said they never had any concerns. I’m under a specialist pathway so requested appointment for reassurance x

Aw that’s brilliant news ! I’ve got my 28 weeks midwife app in 2 weeks so I think I may request a growth scan, if that’s even possible ? Haha x

@Ghayx thats good and not long for you to wait now ! Yes I’m sure if you discuss it with them they will reassure you or get you in for a scan for peace of mind - hope all goes well x
