Miscarriage or SCH?

Ergh. I’m 10+5 wks pregnant after a horrible missed miscarriage in December (15 wks).

For various reasons I’ve already had 3 scans, at 5, 7 wks and the latest one was at 9+2. Baby fine and heartbeating but there was a subchorionic hematoma present right from the get go. At the last scan it was sizeable, 2.5cm x 2.7cm x 1.5cm. Up until the latest scan I only had extremely light spotting a handful of times and it passed quickly.

Since that last scan I’ve had cramps, lower back ache and the spotting has ramped up, brown, pink and red. I’ve called EPU and they’ve booked me in for a scan but it’s not until Friday 😩

It’s another miscarriage isn’t it? Is there any hope? I just feel very miscarriage-y. I think my cervix feels achey. Is there any chance it could just be the SCH bleeding? But that doesn’t explain the cramps.

Im on progesterone and I had recently started aspirin but I’ve stopped that now.

Sorry to hear you're going through this.

I've had several miscarriages and also had. SCH before. This won't be a helpful answer but I really don't think there's any way to know until you have your scan. The cramps and the bleeding could be just the SCH though as I did get cramps when this came away. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this. I’m 13 weeks and also had a SCH which meant I had brown spotting almost non-stop between 5 weeks and 10 weeks. I also had a fairly heavy (period like) bright red bleed at about 5.5 weeks which was accompanied by some bad cramps but everything has turned out okay. I know the wait until Friday will be really tough but red bleeding and cramps doesn’t always mean miscarriage especially if you know you have a SCH. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I had a sch with my current pregnancy and started spotting early on and then one day I felt achey and uncomfortable and had a bigger bleed. I had a scan 5 days later at 6+5 weeks, there was a heartbeat and they mentioned the sch. I recently had a scan at 13+1 and they said they couldn't see a sch and that it must have reabsorbed because it didn't bleed out again. Hope everything goes well with your scan on Friday x

Thank you all for your replies. Can’t wait for tomorrow to be over, whatever the outcome! I had a call today to say my urine sample from last week’s booking appointment showed a UTI so I’ve got antibiotics for that now. Feel like pregnancy is just one thing after another! I’ve still been spotting this week but it’s been pretty light and some days almost nothing. Not feeling very hopeful though. Just have to wait and see what the scan says tomorrow.

The scan was good 😊 baby was jiggling around. Still lightly spotting though. Trying to keep positive now until my dating scan in 2 weeks.

Ahh brilliant news 😊 hopefully the spotting stops, did they give you a reason for it?

Not really, the waiting room at EPU was full to bursting and it was a very quick in and out scan! She said it could well be the hematoma, but that loads of people spot in pregnancy 🤷🏻‍♀️
She didn’t see the hematoma but I have my dating scan in 2 weeks so I’ll ask them to look for it then.
