No nub visible but will guess girl

Gingerbreadmama · 10/05/2023 20:16

@PickledScrump ahh really I thought there was 😂😂 I must have got it wrong. What makes you say girl then? I have 5 more scans, I'll have to look through them 😂

@Gingerbreadmama if you have more photos from your 12 week scan pop them up and we’ll see if there’s a visible nub on any

Gingerbreadmama · 10/05/2023 20:27

@PickledScrump thank you! I currently only have these on my phone, and it was one long strip so I've had to crop into the strip of them so my names hidden, so these may be a bit blurry! But see what you can see 😂

@Gingerbreadmama none are overly clear but it looks like there may be a girl nub there so I’ll stick with girl. Are you finding out?

Gingerbreadmama · 11/05/2023 13:31

@PickledScrump well we already know because we did a blood test, and she is in fact a girl, but I wanted to see if the nub theory backed it up. Especially as we have 5 weeks to wait for our scan! I guess even though the blood test is more accurate than a scan, I am now nervous waiting for the scan 😂

@Gingerbreadmama I think the accuracy of the blood test has a lot of variables. If it is don’t at home it’s less reliable than one done in a clinic. Also depends how early you had it done. I’ve seen far more people saying blood tests were wrong than scans. Although I think it’s still a small amount

Gingerbreadmama · 11/05/2023 23:30

@PickledScrump I had mine done in a clinic, at 7 and half weeks, and I did the sneakpeek which has a more precise technology and there's also independent medical journals who have tested it, so I did a lot of research! . I've seen one of the others getting quite a lot of incorrect results, even at clinics, but the technology used is different. I think it's very risky to do the home kits whatever the make!

@Gingerbreadmama that is early. I’d heard you needed to be at least 8 weeks to be sure that any Y chromosome had reached the mother’s blood stream at a detectable level. That’s if you know exactly when conception occurred so your dates were exact. But that was 3 years ago when I looked so maybe it’s got more accurate.

Gingerbreadmama · 12/05/2023 08:36

@PickledScrump no it's from 6 weeks now, they developed the technology they use further, and the medical journals for that is also online. I also had a scan prior to the blood test so they could confirm how far on I was before they'd take the blood sample, alot of the clinics that do the testing offer a scan with it, so that false results are not obtained, if you're too early you go back at a later date for the blood test . After I received my results I emailed the company, and they said a false female would only occur if taken earlier than 6 weeks, but the stage I was at, I'd provided my measurements as well as dating, and they said they have no doubt in the results I have received.
