Glucose test - dizzy and hot

I had my glucose test and an hour after drinking the glucose solution, I suddenly started overheating and feeling dizzy, weird vision etc.

Anyone else experienced this? I’m wondering if it may indicate I do have gestational diabetes….

I had a similar sensation a few days ago. My last blood test showed low iron but I’ve been taking supplements since. BP seems to be fine. So it could be combination of low iron/dehydration/hunger.

Thanks in advance!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I had this and ended up vomiting so had to repeat the test which was awful. The second time round I was put in a long lounger style chair with a fan pointed at me which helped a lot. I think it happens to lots of people it’s a very unnatural test. I didn’t have gestational diabetes.

I had this and the test was negative. I think it's the combination of fasting then all that sugar hit in one go. I remember the midwife asking me not to faint as they wouldn't have anywhere to put me if I did.

Thanks both, yes it is a very unnatural test so good to hear other’s experiences! Results hopefully will not take too long to arrive

I didn't feel this way and did have gestational diabetes, I have done the test twice and felt fine both times and had GD three times.

I felt like this and did have GD. I don't think it's connected though, it's just pretty horrible to fast then drink that much sugar.

I had mine today, felt very lightheaded afterwards. Managed to knock over a load of baskets in the supermarket. Came home, ate and then when straight to bed, where I still am! From my own (very unofficial) googling it seems more likely you won't have GD if you have some sort of light- headed, dizziness reaction to the glucose drink.
Hopefully we'll both hear back soon!

thanks all - difficult to say if there’s a correlation!

@LBF2020 hopefully a negative result for us both! I also ate immediately after and drank more water and felt a bit better.
