Downward dog second trimester. Anyone done pregnancy yoga?

Sorry, typical paranoid pregnancy post.

I’m 23 weeks and been doing downward dog at night because it’s the only thing that helps my restless legs. Now I find out that yoga inversions are not recommended in pregnancy. I’ve even read it can cause cord compression!

I am really concerned I could’ve harmed my baby. I’ve been doing down dog and then pigeon but that’s it.

If anyone has been to pregnancy yoga - were these poses included and if not did they explain why? Should I be contacting my midwife to check on baby? Feeling really scared :(

Haven’t seen anything that says not to do it. Just ones that say after 30 weeks reduce how long you do it for and don’t do it if baby is breech

I did a pregnancy yoga class and we did downward facing dog. It’s fine. Just don’t do headstands!

Absolutely fine, forward leaning inversions are even used at the end of pregnancy to help baby in to a good position for birth so don't worry!

Yup, we do that and puppy pose a lot!

I did headstands during both of my pregnancies!

It’s totally fine. In fact, when we have a cord prolapse in labour, the first thing we do is get a woman on all fours with her bum in the air to disengage baby from the pelvis and prevent cord compression.
