Haemorrhoid hell

Hi all

I have horrendous piles, have done since first trimester. I'm almost 30 weeks and am passing lots of blood daily. My consultant & midwife don't seem worried, but the volume of blood loss is concerning me. I'm also passing large (2-3 inch long) clots several times per day now, as well as lots of mucus and also a fair amount of spontaneous mucusy blood, often without knowing I've passed it.

I also have IBD and am starting to get concerned that some of the blood is coming from further up.

I had severely painful thrombosed piles after delivering my son (pushed for 2.5 hours) and want to avoid that this time round so am exploring ELCS as ab option.

I guess I'm looking to see if anyone else has suffered with the volume of blood & clot loss, to reassure me a little? I'm anemic so this really isn't helping!

That doesn’t sound normal to me at all. Piles are common in pregnancy but that sounds very extreme. I’d really ask about it again and be sure to say everything you’ve mentioned on here. That sounds so awful for you

Oh no, sounds awful & not right 😕. Do you have Crohn's or ulcerative colitis? I think you should see a GP.

I have UC. My colorectal consultant doesn't seem concerned, it's just the constant pressure and trips to the loo to "strain" to get the blood out. Very unpleasant.

Oh dear, miserable, sorry to hear that😕. If the consultant isn't concerned then I guess that's ok but it doesn't sound right or normal. I had bad haemorrhoids during & after pregnancy but got them under control with diet & they still act up occasionally. My dd had a bad chronic AF for years until surgery tamed it. She was passing lots of blood and clots. We got a sitz bath and used warm salt water to alleviate the pain. What is ELCS? Do you have iron infusions or take iron pills for the anemia & do you have to follow a special diet & have you been prescribed any creams or suppositories for the piles?

I can't take iron tablets due to my UC, so can only take infusions (am due one soon!)

ELCS - elective c section, saves me pushing for 2 hours again and having terrible thrombosed piles again!
