Is it normal when trying for a baby?

Hi All, my partner and I are somewhat trying for a baby, adopting a "whatever happens, happens" mindset. I've been making efforts to improve my chances of getting pregnant, like eating healthier, cutting back on caffeine, and taking folic acid. I'm curious if it's normal to feel mixed emotions, sometimes really wanting a baby and other times feeling unsure, now that it's becoming more of a reality. Has anyone else experienced this? 😊🤔

I dont think folic acid improves your chances at all, I believe it just reduces chances of defects when you do conceive? My best advice is to have sex on the right day ie peak fertility as all other attempts are likely to be fruitless... if your not in any rush though just keep doing what your doing!

And yes I have mixed emotions every day about whether a baby will fit in to our busy lives but I trust that in the end it will all work out

I think mixed emotions are 100% normal. Even after discussing thoroughly with my DH if we were ready, coming off contraception etc, I'd still get moments of 'are we sure' whilst other times browsing the conception boards desperate to be pregnant! I think it's normal because it's one of the biggest changes you can go through in life.

I'm now 15 weeks pregnant and can tell you I now never worry thinking we aren't ready.

Thank you for your reply and comments regarding vitamin B12. I believe I am simply trying to be healthy in order to increase my chances of conceiving. I appreciate your reassurance as well.

I remember panicking when I found out I was pregnant with my first. A ‘what the hell have I done moment’. It was fine, I got over it !

Yep same here. I’m not currently bothering with any lifestyle changes though, we’re pretty healthy and active anyway.

Ahh, some of my friends mentioned feeling that same panic too, haha 😅. We've been kinda trying for a few months, so fingers crossed for a positive result soon 🤞😄
