Anyone had a scan at 5 weeks?

If so what did the nurses see?

I had a scan the other day due to bleeding. My cycles are often quite long so when I gave them the date of my last period they assumed I was a lot further than what I thought. I did try to explain. Anyway at the scan all they could see was an egg and yolk sac and said I was measuring 5 weeks 5 days. They have asked me to come back in two weeks to make sure things have progressed. Is this normal?

It’s normal, not much to see at 5 weeks, try not to worry too much

Yes, normal.
Scans that are so so early are to ensure that the pregnancy is in the uterus and not else were, ectopic.
That’s it really.
There’s no other real meaningful information so early (ime)
10-14 days between scans is usual practice just to check progress.
What will happen will happen in the mean time unfortunately, there is absolutely nothing that any one can do.

@user1947582 hello, hope you’re well! Do you mind me asking what was the outcome after the 2 weeks? I’m in the same boat. I had a scan today LMP being 7+4 but I can have quite lengthy cycles too. All we could see in the scan was a yolk sac advising I would be about 5 weeks and to return in 2 weeks.

@user1947582 hi, I’m now in the same boat too. I should be 7 weeks but due to bleeding I went for an early scan to be told 5+1 and to come back in 10 days as no heartbeat was there yet. What was your outcome?

Yes, it's normal.

I had a scan at 5+3 with this pregnancy due to a previous ectopic. They saw a gestational sac and yolk sac.
I had a second scan at 7+3 where they saw the baby and its heartbeat.
