Negative OPKS but pregnant? Any positive stories?

Hi,

So im putting this in the pregnancy bit rather than conception as I wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience to me regarding OPKs but has managed to become pregnant?

My OPKs are negative - they get darker for a couple days (I test 3x a day Am, Aft, PM) but are never blaring positives that are the same as the control line. Hoping it means im still ovulating and maybe there just not getting as dark? Hoping someone had same experience and is pregnant to give me hope!

Do you put them in the Premom app? What’s the highest number you’ve got? I’ve never had very dark opks, I think the highest I’ve ever got is 0.8 so not as dark as the control line! I think I have a really quick surge so even testing multiple times I just miss the peak xx

Hi OP. I never had a positive OPK but got pregnant fairly quickly - appreciate we were so lucky and I’m very grateful. Once, maybe twice, I got a very pale something on in OPK that wouldn’t even be classed as positive as it didn’t anywhere near match the control line. So I also thought I wasn’t ovulating as I was spending loads of money on OPKs and doing them well beyond my fertile window on either side of it.

Honestly, the month I got pregnant was when I banned OPKs and tracking my BBT as I became obsessed. We also stopped having sex every day (it quickly become mechanical and a chore) and went to every other day around my probable fertile window. Ooh, I also stopped eating clean and exercising intensely after reading ‘No Period? Now What?’ Btw, I got very light periods which was another reason I thought I wasn’t ovulating hence I bought the book. I exercised A LOT and had v little body fat. That book was a revelation. Desperate for a baby, I suddenly ate lots of full fat proper dairy, olive oil, dark chocolate, nuts, wholegrain bread loaded with peanut butter and chocolate spreads… all the delicious wholesome stuff. It worked very quickly! Appreciate that lots of women do sadly have reasons for fertility battles though and it’s not always as simple as “just relaxing”. Good luck!

Hi, I had exactly the situation you are describing when I was TTC. I used OPKs for a while and although I would sometimes see a slightly darker line, I never got a clearly positive result.

In the end it was stressing me out so I tracked my ovulation by BBT using the fertility friend app instead and that was much better for me. (With the caveat that BBT doesn’t show ovulation until after it’s happened, so we would try to have sex every other day until we saw the temperature spike had been and gone).

I am now 10 weeks pregnant, and I had a previous pregnancy which ended in miscarriage, so I have conceived twice.

I don’t remember the exact details but I read somewhere that some people have a very short LH spike so depending on what time of day you test you may just miss it. I also have PCOS so that might have something to do with my hormone levels being different too.

My advice would be ditch the OPKs if they are not working for you. Good luck!!

I could never get a positive on those OPK’s either but I got pregnant pretty easily. Can only assume I either have a very quick/short surge or wasn’t doing them very well!

I didn’t get a positive the cycle I fell pregnant! Think my highest reading was 0.5, which is nowhere near positive. Definitely possible (although if you test 2/3 rimes a day you might catch a surge!)

My highest reading in the Pre Mom app was 0.9 the month I fell pregnant. I also switched the tests I was using, originally I used One Step tests but rarely got the hint of a line. Once I switched to Easy @ Home I had more success, but still the highest value I got was 0.9. Baby is 8 weeks old so I definitely was ovulating!
