Hi all,

First time poster and first time mum to be here.. 🙂I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant and after seemingly endless horrible weeks of morning (all day) sickness I'm feeling slightly better (still throwing up though which I am miffed about!)

I'm worried as my midwife said that from trimester 2 onwards healthy eating is important, the issue I'm having is I still can't really stomach hot food so am not having any vegetables. I'm mostly living off sandwiches with some salad in and cake/salt and vinegar crisps 😳 not much fruit either. I drink lots of water and pre-pregnancy ate a varied diet

I realize my current eating habits aren't idea so am looking for some advice/tips on how other mums to be tried to eat healthily? Or did you feel it impacted you not having that much veg etc? I'm still taking a pregnancy multi vitamin but the salt and vinegar crisps are becoming an issue! Thank you x

Just shove the veg in wherever you can, and if you're doing your best don't beat yourself up. Can you stomach banana loaf or carrot cake etc? Increase the salad in your sandwich? What about smoothies? Snack veg like sugar snap peas or carrot sticks and dip?
It will be your health that suffers, not the baby's, as they'll just steal what they need from your stores and strip you dry 😆 If you're starting to feel slightly better hopefully you'll be expanding your diet soon anyway. Don't worry too much!

Also second smoothies. I make them with frozen fruit and I think the fact they are cold helps x

Thank you both for the responses 😊 I’ll take on board xx

As someone who was sick throughout both my pregnancies, you just need to eat whatever you can face to get the calories. If that’s not much veg so be it. The baby will still get what it needs.
You may find you feel better in a couple more weeks, I felt slightly better from 22 weeks onwards ish and could face some vegetables. Only cold and raw though! Both pre and post pregnancy I have a very healthy varied diet that includes loads of vegetables, but not when I’m pregnant!
