Spotting at 9 weeks

Hi

I'm hoping someone has been through the same thing with a positive outcome and can give me some reassurance.

I have recently just went through IVF / ICSI and had a positive test back on the 31/03/23, I'm 9 weeks today.... i had a scan at 7 weeks and 8 weeks all was good we could see baby heartbeat and baby was growing as it should with no reason for concern from the hospital.

However....i started spotting on Sunday past and have been ever since, its been a thick like discharge, dark pink not red, only when I wipe and not filling a pad, but its constant.

I have been in contact with the Dr, who have arranged a scan tomorrow at the EPU, I'm going out of my mind with worry, especially when I was just at my midwife booking in appointment this morning & her words I quote were "should we continue with this if things aren't going to progress because this takes an hour". The experience wasn't great and felt like i couldn't talk to her, when i tried explaining the spotting I was made feel like this is the end 😭

Has anyone had any similar spotting after seeing baby's heartbeat and the outcome was good?

Wow I'm sorry your midwife said that! Spotting can be so common in pregnancy, and I have read it's for some reason more common in IVF pregnancies. The majority of people that have spotting in early pregnancy do not miscarry, especially after seeing a heartbeat. I had brown and pink spotting on and off for the first 12 weeks of my pregnancy. Kept panicking and booking private scans for reassurance and all was fine - I'm typing this with our 3 month old in my arms! I'd keep an eye on it and see if it gets heavier or turns red. Would a private scab be an option for some reassurance?

Oh just saw you have a scan tomorrow!! Fingers crossed you seeing a lovely strong heartbeat again!
