Hi all,

So I am 18 weeks and a few days, I've started feeling movement but the last few days it's just stopped?

I mean should I be worried or is this normal? I have a posterior placenta so the midwife said i will feel movement sooner.

Please help I'm in panic mode

I know it’s super scary, but you may not have a movement pattern until 28 weeks. this is new NHS guidance, as it was previously 24 which made a lot
women panic.

Please call your midwife and see if you can come
in for a doppler check for peace of mind at one of the hubs (do not buy one on Amazon) but that is all they will do at this stage.

Baby is tiny at 18 weeks and could have just changed position.

I didn’t have regular movement patterns until 30 weeks and even then had lots of quiet days until she was born at 38 weeks. I know how you feel.

There's no need to worry about movements until later in your pregnancy as they are so small they can do plenty of moving without you feeling it.

As pp said after 28 weeks you will start to get to know how much your baby moves in a day, although I must say I've never been able to identify a 'pattern' in any pregnancy.

Hi OP. I was like this at 25 weeks so much further along and the nurse at triage said that the baby is still so small at that point so could be surrounded by amniotic fluid and not close to the uterus edges. But if you are still concerned do contact your midwife as always of course. Even if it’s just for peace of mind. 18 weeks is still very early. I only just started feeling the very occasional bubble pop then and I’m sure it was every few days. But please consult professionals, as I said.
