TW: Mentions possible MC with picture.

I'm 4+6, 39 y/o and found out I was pregnant 23rd April at 9dpo. Between 9dpo-11dpo I had very very light pink when I wiped which changed to very light brown (discharge? Or old blood?) and has been there daily since. I'm 20dpo now and woke up to a small gush of dark red/light brown trickling. It went through my pyjama trousers and onto the bed sheets. Does this look like the beginning of miscarriage? I had a twin MMC in 2018 but because I didn't bleed, I don't know if this is a how it begins or not.

Can you call your local EPU?
They might not see you with you being so early on, but will definitely be able to offer some advice.

Have you had any other symptoms? Like backache, cramping, migraine etc?

Just seen gynaecologist, hcg is 4500, cervix is closed, progesterone is 59nmol/L. Now I've got to wait for a scan in the next 48 hours and start progesterone supplements. I'm praying so hard! Thanks for your advice to get in touch with EPU.

Just got back from scan "no sign of intrauterine pregnancy" "a cystic like structure measuring 5mm with no contents" I don't know if I'm having too much hope thinking it may be just too early to see anything

So are you 5 weeks today? It is very early. Do you have to back in for another scan in a few weeks?

Yes, 5 weeks today, they're looking at it being an ectopic.

I have another Hcg blood check tomorrow. If it hasn't doubled, they will manage it as an ectopic. If it has doubled, they're arranging another scan next week.

I was so positive when I went to the appointment today as the bleeding had lessened and it had almost returned to a light brown colour. But the fact that my hcg is 4500 and they expect to see a gestational sac if hcg is above 1500 really hit me hard.

There's still a glimmer of hope I suppose...

Hcg level today was 8470! An increase of around 90%! I am starting to have hope again but so confused as to why there wasn't a gestational sac seen on my ultrasound yesterday. Can hcg still increase this way with an ectopic?

Just got back from my follow up scan. Sonographer found baby in the right place with a heartbeat measuring 4mm. I'm absolutely elated!!! 😍

Update : 28th December 2023 my beautiful baby boy was born at home in water weighing 8lb. I thought there was no hope after having that early scan but my miracle is here to complete our family. Don't give up - don't stop believing your dreams can come true 🥰
