Breach c section - when?

Hello, when do doctors usually suggest you book in for a c section (not keen to try natural as baby is breach)?

How late can you book it (assuming they then just do it on the day if you go into labour earlier)? Eg can you book it for 40 weeks?

Mine was booked for 39 weeks. They prefer to do it before baby drops so they're non pulling it back up (obviously they can do it at 40 in emergencies but it's easier on baby to do it a earlier). They gave me the date at about 37 weeks, though offer to scan on the day just incase baby flips last minute.

DD was a little smaller then her 41 weeker brother, but fully developed and absolutely fine.

Mine was booked at 36 weeks for bang on 39weeks.

They booked mine for 40+2. 39 weeks would have been christmas day!!

Funnily enough my waters broke at 38+3 and I was then classed as an emergency section. I think they'd run out of elective slots to book due to the festive period. The care I got was good though, and baby was born approx 3 hours after my waters broke.

Sorry, I was booked in about 36 weeks and was scanned to make sure he was still breech before they started

Mine was booked for 38.5.

Thanks! I want to go as late as possible even if it means a more emergency c section if I go into labour earlier so good to know what others have done - especially when it's not because of a medical condition as such

Mine was booked from 28 weeks for 39+3, but they phoned at 38+4 and move it to 39+1 as someone else needed the slot

I would be tempted to wait until I went into labour naturally. I’ve heard people call it letting baby choose their own birthday!
