Empty sac - first pregnancy

Hi everyone! It’s my very first post here.

Had my first early scan yesterday at allegedly 7w+1d according to my LMP (100% sure of the date). Empty sac measuring 15.4mm diameter, no yolk sac, no fetal pole.

The sonographer said things measure 5+1 instead and is going rescan in 11 days.

My cycles are long (anything between 32 days and 42 on rare occasions, usually around the 35 mark), I have tracked my ovulation via app and I’m fairly certain of the dates (first positive test on cheap hcg strips at 7-8 DPO).

I felt really positive yesterday thinking it was maybe too early due to long cycles however the dates (including intercourse) are all tracked. Feeling not so positive today re 2nd scan coming up.

Can I pick your brain on this? Thank you so much. It’s my first pregnancy so this is all very new. 🌺

So sorry to hear what's happened. I experienced something very similar in December which unfortunately ended in a miscarriage. Like you, I thought I was 7 weeks but a scan showed an empty gestational sac that only measured around 5mm. The EPU said that dates can be wrong but, like you, I had tracked ovulation and the dates just didn't match x

Thank you and sorry to hear you had to go through this :( did you have the miscarriage shortly after the scan? I read it can take weeks after before the body actually realises there is nothing growing inside the sac :(

@Gingka So sorry you are going through this 😢 something similar for me too. I was supposed to be 8 weeks but measured 6 and they told me to come back in two weeks they said people can measure two weeks out and it can catch up by next scan I went back and it was still measuring 6 weeks which I new wasn’t good but it had changed and had a fetal pole but I should have been 11 weeks but because it changed I had to wait another week to be told it was it MMC 💔 sending you love and hope that maybe it is just your long cycles you implanted later sometimes they don’t see all they need to at 5 weeks so you could see everything at the next scan 🤞🏻♥️

I'd had some spotting which prompted the scan. The EPU put me on progesterone but the miscarriage started about a week later x
