Movements at 16 weeks

Hi I am 16 weeks pregnant with baby no 2. I have been having a lot of anxiety and worrying something is wrong, I had a private scan for reassurance a week ago and everything was good.

Shortly after I thought I felt the beginnings of movement, little ripples and flutters and what I thought were some light kicks. It seemed to be mainly in the evenings when I was relaxing and it appeared to be increasing over the last week. But then in the last 2 days it appears to have tailed off again. I have felt a couple of small movements yesterday and today but not much.

I know it's still very early in terms of movements but naturally this is just stressing me out more now! I feel like I can't concentrate on anything and constantly waiting to see if I can feel more movement.

I don't know if I have a genuine reason to worry or not... I don't think I had any movements at all at this stage on my last pregnancy! Thoughts welcome... thanks.

Hey! I can really understand why this is a worry as it’s so nice to get to that stage where you can be reassured baby is okay by regularly feeling their movements. However at 16 weeks baby is still tiny and can hide and flip around loads so you really don’t need to worry about feeling consistent movements at this stage. The RCOG have guidance on fetal movements and gestation if you wanted to have a read to reassure you.

Thank you so much, that's really reassuring Smile I will look up those guidelines, thanks.

When I was pregnant with DS back in 2021 I 100% could feel flutters from 11 weeks - I know my body so well. I actually wrote a post on here and got pooh-poohed by everyone haha but I could definitely feel him. And most definitely could from 16 weeks! Very very sporadically mind! It drove me bonkers with worry until they were regular. But I definitely felt him. Smile

@friedgoldeggs thanks, I can't wait for it to become more regular!
