Hello,

I had a scan on monday as the week before i had a couple of days where i had some blood in my urine, doc told me not to worry, its old blood and its only happened on 2 occasions. Had the scan and baby is fine, just about 6 weeks and has a strong heartbeat, everythings in right place etc...

But 2 days later me and my partner had a massive arguement over a text message from a girl he cheated on me with last year. As you can imagine, hormones being all over the place i got hysterical, started throwing things at him, my blood pressure must have been through the roof at the time and the only was for him to stop me lashing out was to pin me to the bed.

Im now so paranoid that ive done something to the baby by putting it through it. Ive not had any bleeding or any reason to think somethings wrong but i had a mc in November and i lost the baby around 6+5 and i dont want to go through it again. Ive not had any sign of blood in over a week but ive had a bit of discomfort but i put that down to being constipated (sorry if TMI!) as im finding it 'hard to go' the past few days.

So i guess as long as im not bleeding or cramping that its still ok??

Dear HelenCS,

Sorry top hear about your m/c and good luck with this pregnancy.

Listen...it's unlikely you've done anything...not if my story is anything to go by.
I've had brief episodes of huge anxiety (where I have cried and shaken all night and got no sleep at all)several times in this pregnancy because I am suffering from post traumatic stress disorder as a result of two ectopic pregnancies in the past. I am now 25weeks+3days with a very active baby that kicks through the entire night!
I also had lots of pain from constipation in my first trimester...one of the joys of pregnancy! If at all worried contact your midwife / GP. The books would also suggest brief episodes of anger / anxiety are fine. (Who can go through 9 months in total tranquility! Not me!) It's prolonged difficulties, so the books say, that cause problems and you can always seek help if that happens.
Take care!

Hey,

Dont worry about it - Im sure baby will be fine. Sure there are studies out there linking stress with problems but firstly it only increases the risk (doesnt definitely affect baby at all), secondly the affect it could possibly have is usually tiny and thirdly these studies are done for extreme stress usually eg long term hardship - months and months of worry or very traumatic completly in shock circumstances. I really wouldnt worry in your situation but big hugs because it couldnt have been very nice for you.

When i was pregnant we went through the house move from hell - it kept going wrong over and over and over. One day about a week before we moved our mortgage company pulled out (over their mistake not ours!) leaving us with the risk of having to pay £30,000 plus to the building company (we had exchanged contracts) and the thought of being stuck in the awful area we were in. I was in absolute pieces - shaking and crying, being uncontrollably sick for most of the day until it started to be sorted. But for a good 8 weeks or so i would have rated my stress levels as high. And this was all in the first trimester.

Needless to say DS is fine - oh and my bp did go through the roof lots towards the end (unrelated to stress) and he was still fine! Try not to worry about it although i understand why you are on edge having bleeding in the past. I bet baby is nice and snug in there wondering what mummy is yelling about (and siding with you in any arguments of course!)

xxx
