Post coital bleeding or miscarriage?

I’m 10 weeks, 5 days pregnant, this is my first pregnancy. At around 5 weeks I had post coital bleeding, which was fresh red blood, the morning after. This time, I’ve had brown discharge for several days and then yesterday and today I’ve had small clots. I’ve had no pain with it, and currently still have my only symptom, tender breasts.
Could this be nothing or does it sound like a miscarriage? I have an early scan booked but not for another couple of days which feels like a long time away!

Can you contact your local EPU for advice?

I have spoken to midwife because I was hoping they could listen for a heartbeat, but they said they wouldn’t do this until 16 weeks as they may not hear it anyway.

Post coital bleeds are very common. Your cervix becomes more sensitive and extra blood flow around that area. Keep an eye on it. Your midwife is correct about listening for a heartbeat. Many trusts don’t do it until 24 weeks as it can be hard to find but 16 weeks is the earliest they will do it. If you are worried contact your midwife again
