Toxoplasmosis from gardening?? Dry dirt??

Hello everyone,

I’m 23 weeks pregnant. Yesterday I did a bit of gardening. We have a neighbors cat use some of our garden bed as toilet and I wasn’t digging in that part of the garden bed yesterday. However I did some re potting and threw away dead plants. It didn’t hit me until afterwards that the spade I used have been used in that dirty garden bed with cat poop last year. I also used that spade last year when I planted said flowers in pots😵‍💫
The soil in the potted flowers was also really dry and it filled the air with a cloud of debris. Ugh. I wore rubber gloves! Just scared I’ve caught toxoplasmosis from getting debris all over me including lips and then ingested it😔.

Could toxoplasmosis really survive in old dry dirt? I’ve read it can survive in moist soil or water for 12-18 months. But not how long it would survive in dry soil.

Am I being totally crazy and delusional?

It is unlikely. Did you wash your hands afterwards?

Toxop is all over the garden anyway from other wildlife, birds, voles, etc.

You are overthinking it and won't have caught anything from your gardening. Wear gloves and wash your hands
