Feeling like I'm about to start my period, 3rd trimester

I'm 34 weeks and for the last few days I constantly have a similar feeling to when I'm about to start my period. Not really distinctive period pains as such, just a crampy, uncomfortable sort of feeling in my cervix and lower stomach. So much so that I keep half expecting to see blood when I wipe after going to the toilet. This is my second baby and I don't remember this at all first time round, until after I'd lost my mucus plug at 40 weeks and was about to go into labour. Just checking I'm not about to go into premature labour? Is this common in the mid-third trimester?

When I had this I went into premature labour, so yes, it could be that.

Thanks. Did you do anything about it at this stage or did you realise when you actually went into labour?

I called and then went to the hospital so they could check me out. I only left after giving birth!

No harm calling to see what they say.

Braxton Hicks? They do get stronger second time around, I think.

I had if then my waters broke at 36 weeks. No idea if correlation or causation though!

Oh no, I’ve been feeling this today and I’m only 24 weeks. Also feels really uncomfortable to walk sometimes like a lot of pressure/slight cramp pain where I imagine my cervix to be. Should I be worried? Baby kicking away as normal right now but have just felt so uncomfortable.

TwigTheWonderKid · 23/04/2023 20:21

I had it every evening for weeks ( 3-4) with my second baby. He was a week late. But my labour with him was far faster and easier than DS1 I think because my body has been "limbering up" for those weeks.

Persuaderama · 23/04/2023 20:21

@RGxo13 I’m pretty sure it’s all normal, don’t worry! Things are moving around in there.

I’ve had this on and off for weeks now and I’m 39+4. But any doubts always worth a call to triage!
