Gum disease in pregnancy ?? Help

So I have periodontal disease (severe gum disease) and have had it long before I got pregnant . I’m now reading that periodontal disease has risks of pre clampisa , still birth and early labour / low birth weight etc
I’m already really anxious about this pregnancy , this has just made it worse :( my gums have been more sore since being pregnant but not a lot . I plan on ringing my dentist tomorrow for a deep clean . Has anyone been through similar and they and baby have been okay ?? My 13 week scan isn’t until 4th may I plan on asking the consultant about it , but I’m so worried that this is gonna harm me and baby :(

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Have you had the clean where they go under the gums with anaesthetic?

I would get that booked in asap and then another hygienist appointment for 3 months after that.

Make sure you're flossing everyday and you could start doing something like oil pulling which has a lot of benefits.

Don't worry too much, you can get on top of it.

@eggboxontop no I haven’t , my dentist are really hard to get appointments with unless an emergency.
im just really worried about this affecting mine and baby’s health . I also have cavities that need filling but still haven’t booked me in for . I’m trying my best to keep my teeth as healthy as I can till I see a dentist ! Hopefully will cause no problems

I'm sure everything will be fine, but I do think you should make it a priority.

Can you got private for the deep clean? Or at a minimum pay for a standard hygienist appointment privately. That will give you a good base to start taking care of it at home until your normal dentist can book you in.

How did you get on with your gum disease and pregnancy? I am 12 weeks pregnant and have been worrying about existing gum disease. I have had cleans with the hygienist twice but am due another checkup soon. It's making me very anxious, I have had previous miscarriages and wonder whether this had anything to do with my gum disease....

@Jess1336 I have a lovely nearly 3 month old dd:) she was measuring small and had to be induced at 37 weeks due to her stopping growing . Although I can’t say or not if it is was linked to gum disease , all went okay ! Hope all goes well with u x
