1 in 6 risk of DS quad results

Baby wasn’t staying still for first trimester screening so I went back last week for the quad test. I thought I was 15 weeks but was told that due date is a week earlier so 16 weeks. I got a call on Friday to say that I have a 1 in 6 chance of the baby having DS and I was in total shock that I didn’t even ask the full results for the blood test. She did however say my hcg was abnormally high. I have felt quite sick the whole pregnancy so it makes sense. I have opted for the NIPT which I’m getting on Monday. I wondered if anyone else had high hcg in their quad test?

No real advice but thinking of you today for the NIPT. Hopefully the screening team or your midwife sent you over information or links to information, but if not then contact your midwife and see if you can talk everything over.

Thanks @YellowHatt ❤️ bloods taken today for NIPT and midwife appointment tomorrow

My daughter who was born last summer had a 1/35 chance (ours was mostly due to low PAPP-A) so we were called into fetal medicine to discuss our options. We had the NIPT test and the results of that came back as very low risk so we left it at that and she was born without DS. Luckily the results don’t take too long to come back as those days felt very long. Hope everything is well x

No advice personally but there's a couple of similar posts on here that might be of help to you if you can find them. Fingers crossed you get what you're hoping for xx

Have you had your results? I hope you’re doing ok. I am in a similar position and waiting for NIPT results from my blood test taken on Tuesday. Wondering how much longer the wait will be for the results 😟

NSx · 06/05/2023 08:21

@Babyblob1 I waited around 8 days for my NHS NIPT results 🤍 hope you get yours soon

KatG1989 · 08/05/2023 20:48

I got mine last Tuesday and thankfully low risk 🙏🏻 hope you get yours soon @Babyblob1

Thank you for the replies @NSx and @KatG1989 it will be 8 days for me tomorrow so hopefully I get the results then. Not sure if the bank holiday will cause a delay though 😞have surprisingly been keeping quite positive. There have been some hard moments but knowing most NIPTs come back negative has kept me from sinking into a bad headspace. Just hoping the results come back low risk xxx

The bank holiday did affect me, I was told 7 days which was the Tues but I got my results 12 noon the wed - so you might be wed too. I hope you get good results back too 🤍 @Babyblob1

Just to share our experience, we had high risk of DS with DC1 and the NIPT came back as low risk. Baby was born without it.

Babyblob1 · 09/05/2023 03:43

Thanks all. So glad your results came back low risk. Hopefully tomorrow or weds we find out and have some clarity on our situation. I think in future I would pay for a private NIPT at 10 weeks to avoid this stress x

KatG1989 · 09/05/2023 08:01

@Babyblob1 please let me know how you get on. Thinking of you x
