Were your pregnancy symptoms the same the second time around?

We want to try for our second soon, but I'm dreading being pregnant again! I had pretty much every symptom going.

Just curious to know, were your pregnancy symptoms the same or different with subsequent pregnancies?

With my first pregnancy I didn't really have any symptoms other than tiredness, my second pregnancy I had awful nausea and felt like total crap, so completely different. Both girls

babyfever2 · 22/04/2023 21:04

Sorry to hear that @annlee3817 ! But it does awful give me hope the second pregnancy might be better!

No.t first I had bad cramping, awful nausea and my boobs were killing me. I had mild nausea with my second but that was it.

Also first time I swelled up like a balloon, acid reflux, looked like shit. Second I was glowing, wearing wedding ring until the end, no issues at all. Dream pregnancy.

babyfever2 · 22/04/2023 21:06

Oh that's amazing @JeepersCreeperrs !!! This makes me a lot less nervous!

I haven’t had nausea or sickness this time while I did with DS, and I don’t think I’ve been as tired, although it could well be that my standards have considerably lowered since becoming a parent!

I have had awful insomnia which is a bloody nuisance and a very painful hip as I go into the third trimester but not sure if that’s from picking up / running round after a toddler.

Good luck with TTC!

Jadex92x · 22/04/2023 21:07

My first pregnancy I had morning sickness bad in the first trimester but no other symptoms , this time I had no sickness but felt tired alot! Both girls as well x

PinkPlantCase · 22/04/2023 21:09

I felt sick straight away with my second. Like I found I was pregnant about 4 days before my period was due because I felt sick and had a very faint positive.

Last time I struggled more with food aversions I couldn’t stand the smell of most hot foods. This time that hasn’t bothered me.

I’ve been a bit more light headed and dizzy this time.

I feel much more tired than last time but then again I was fully wfh because of covid and didn’t have any other children to run round after 😂 Now I work full time and have an almost 2 year old.

Im showing much earlier this time round. Some of the aches and pains I had towards the end of pregnancy last time have already come back, it’s like my body remembers.

Im still first trimester so can’t comment much further than that.

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 22/04/2023 21:17

I feel generally similar but this time I tested positive much earlier, am showing much earlier and very bloated and trapped gas etc that I didn't have I'm early pregnancy last time.

Feel similar level of sickness and tiredness. Think my boobs are as sore. Had a girl last time don't know what DC2 is yet x

Skybluepinky · 22/04/2023 21:19

No I even had periods.

Lkgcsr · 22/04/2023 21:25

I had sickness with both but it was different; my first I felt sick all day but rarely actually sick whereas with second I’d be sick most mornings but fine by 10amish

shivawn · 22/04/2023 21:29

No my symptoms have been different but pretty mild both times.

I'm only 10 weeks pregnant with the second but at this stage last time I had really sore boobs, no soreness at all this time....maybe because they've already been so stretched with previous pregnancy and breastfeeding? I have a lot of light cramping in the evenings this time around that I didn't have last time.

Exactly this for me, too! First pregnancy, I was just tired and a bit queasy at times. Second, I ended up on meds for nausea and vomiting, the exhaustion is ridiculous (I’m currently 26 weeks), my skin didn’t break out like it did the first time round, etc etc etc. Both girls.

allgoodthings84 · 22/04/2023 22:20

I’m 22 weeks with my second and up until now they have been exactly the same. Horrendous 24/7 nausea for first 11/12 weeks. No actual sickness just constant nausea. Tired most of the time still. Heartburn from around 16 weeks every single night. The first trimester was really hard both times but felt better as soon as the nausea had gone. Both times girls but don’t think that has anything to do with symptoms

PickledScrump · 22/04/2023 22:41

First, nausea and some sickness. Put on loads of weight. Felt really miserable. Second I bloated from 4 weeks really badly but otherwise absolute breeze. Text book pregnancy and birth. Both were girls. Now on third and nausea, exhaustion, spotty skin

Tisfortired · 22/04/2023 22:51

Mine were identical both times! Both boys.

Diversion · 22/04/2023 22:58

I was 10 weeks with my second born before I found out. I had a "period" which obviously wasn't. He was my only son, the only one I had morning sickness with, the only one where I got an outy belly button and the line down the middle of my bump. I also had a weird allergic reaction to a fish from the chippy and came out in hives. My other three are girls. Sadly I never found out what my first was due to miscarriage at almost 13 weeks

AtSomePointInLife · 22/04/2023 23:15

Both pregnancies so different, 1st girl, 8 years later boy.

QueenLagertha · 22/04/2023 23:18

With my first I had all day nausea and food aversions during first trimester. Was very tired throughout, constant sinus problems, acid reflux. My second pregnancy I didn't feel sick once, dream pregnancy. Both boys.

Ged94 · 23/04/2023 06:09

With my first pregnancy (boy) I had awful morning sickness which was the main symptom. Was basically couch bound eating bland food and throwing it up for months

With my second I felt great, like way too good/ normal and ended in missed misscarraige at 11 weeks which I was expecting as just didn't feel pregnant

This pregnancy (girl, now 31 weeks) has been great. Bit more tired but I think that's due to the toddler more than anything! I've had light nausea/ vomiting at the start but it's not been debilitating at all and I have been able to eat what I want the whole time. Basically what I thought pregnancy would be like before the first horror show with my boy!

Emilia35 · 23/04/2023 06:31

No, completely different though second pregnancy has been a million times worse.

First I had nausea, then heartburn and usual pain/discomfort towards the end. Second the nausea was horrific, was vomiting several times a day, confined to bed all evening for months. After that went, I got piles, awful sciatica pain and reflux so bad during the night it's torture. I've got a few weeks left still but never getting pregnant again after this!

Abacusporttaco · 23/04/2023 06:52

I had appalling sickness both times, slightly worse the second time. Persisted into 20th week.

I had loads of complications with both, but have been able to keep exercising pretty hard which keeps me sane and in fairly decent shape.

Abacusporttaco · 23/04/2023 06:53

but never getting pregnant again after this

Same. I can’t wait for it to be over and for my husband to get his vasectomy. No more additional hormones, natural or imbibed, ever. 🎉
