8 weeks 5 days terrified of MMC again

I guess I’m just looking for reassurance really.

I unfortunately had a MMC in December at 7 weeks 3 days. I am now currently 8 weeks 5 days. I have already been for 2 early scans due to bleeding/spotting which both times a heartbeat was detected and everything looked healthy. I am on progesterone and I am still spotting I can’t help but think it’s going to end in MMC again :( I know it’s completely out of my control but just wondered if anyone else has been in a similar situation and all was well?

thank you in advance x

Hi OP,

I’m so sorry for what you’ve been through, MMCs are awful. My first pregnancy (in 2020) ended in MMC - I’d had one smear of blood at about eight weeks and that was it. Second pregnancy ended with a beautiful DD who is now two and again, I got the smear of blood at eightish weeks.
I’m now 26 weeks pregnant, didn’t have the blood at eight weeks but did have heavy bleeding and spotting between 12 and 18 weeks - they think it was down to a low lying placenta (which has now moved).
I absolutely understand the anxiety, I found the first pregnancy after the MMC in particular so SO hard but please be reassured that bleeding doesn’t necessarily mean a bad outcome (although I know it’s easier said than done) - it could be for any number of reasons. It’s great that everything looks good on your scans so far and I have my fingers firmly crossed that all will stay well for you. Sending lots of strength xx

@SkyBlue20 thank you for your reply. And I’m sorry to hear you have also been through a MMC they really are so tough. Thank you for the reassurance it’s so difficult as everything you read on here is 50/50 and I know it can go either way but bleeding/spotting is very common in early pregnancy and like you said doesn’t always mean a bad outcome! They said the bleeding was unexplainable on the scan and that it can be common but it doesn’t stop the anxiety at all! I have my dating scan in 2 weeks so just going to ride it out and stay positive until then xx

Sending you a big hug. This part of the waiting is awful. I lost two babies at 9 weeks and then 8 weeks before going onto have a healthy pregnancy.

With my 4 and last pregnancy (I had a son before my losses) I felt such an anxiety at the 8 week mark. It's crippling and no one really gets it unless they have losses.

Take each day as it comes. Good luck and wishing a speedy two week wait.

My anxiety didn't disappear at 12 weeks but it did get better. Each week from 12 weeks feels like it's own little milestone.
