Early Scan - measuring small and slow heart rate - any hope?

am pregnant with a spontaneous pregnancy after 3 years of IVF to conceive my daughter. We went for an early scan yesterday at what should have been 7+4 based on LMP. The midwife said baby was measuring 6+3 and heart rate was on the slower side at 101bpm. She said it’s 50:50. It’s possible the dates are out and the heart has only just started beating. It’s also possible this won’t be a viable pregnancy. We are going back next week for a follow up scan. I’m terrified. Does any one have any stories from a similar situation? Good or bad, just trying to be realistic about the outcome. Thank you x

So sorry you're going through this, unfortunately not a good story from me - I was 6+6 by LMP but only measuring barely 6w - there was a heartbeat but they didn't say the bpm. unfortunately at 9+5 I started bleeding and turns out mmc baby stopped growwing at 7+1. BUT I think the 50/50 comment is right because I read so many amazing stories of babies catching up and everything being fine so I am hoping you fall onto that side ❤️ take care of yourself and take one day at a time, the wait is hell xxx

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I’m so sorry it didn’t have a happy ending for you 💔it’s so hard, I want to remain hopeful and strong for my little bub, but also trying to be realistic and prepare myself should it not be the outcome we hoped for. X

@hja62 it really is so tough but until you know more focus on the 50/50 because I'm sure people will come along with positive outcomes. I also fell pregnant again straight away and am now 14 weeks❤️ xxxx

@hja62 absolutely - I couldn't enjoy it at all it was really tough xxxxxx

when are you booked for a follow up scan? ❤️

I had an ivf pregnancy that was measuring a week behind. First scan there wasn't a heartbeat. Second scan at 7 and a bit weeks there was a heartbeat but still measuring a whole week behind (not good for ivf pregnancy) and was told it could go either way. The next scan there was no longer a heartbeat. I've had 4 mc now, but that was the only one where there was a heartbeat.

However, I am 11 1/2 weeks pregnant now with a letrazole/ovulation induced pregnancy and this one measured a full week behind initially but is now only 4 days behind. The first scan she described it as a 'light heartbeat' and we weren't very hopeful given our history. It really can go either way. Best of luck to you.

@seven201 I’m so sorry to hear this, what a journey you’ve been on. I’m so delighted to hear this pregnancy is working out for you, but really goes to show it can go either way xx I definitely think measuring a week behind can be more of a concern for an IVF pregnancy when obviously you are very sure of dates. It’s seems for spontaneous or ovulation induction pregnancies like yours there is a bit more wiggle room with dates. I’m really hoping that’s the case with us. I wasn’t tracking ovulation and haven’t for years as assumed it would never happen naturally for us so honestly haven’t a clue even when I would usually ovulate in a cycle x
